Hey /jp/,
I'm going to a Tanabata festival on Saturday, and I'd really like to wear a traditional yukata with an obi sash. I don't really have the money to buy one, so do you know how I could make one easily out of another kind of fabric or robe which wouldn't cost very much?
Thanks much, happy summer!

I find that if you take a bathrobe, and just dye it another color, it can look very convincing.

That's.... nice.

Ah, okay, I might try that. Any way I could do the obi sash?

I didn't really consider it cosplay. But I'll ask there too, thanks.

For the sash, you could just try masking tape or something,

Or even just wrap a towel around your waist, since you're going with a bathing theme.

So a Japanese person living the United States can't go to a Japanese festival in the town they're living in?
Are you serious?

Sure they can, but they shouldn't talk about it on /jp/.
