Let me pull a few quotes for you from the transcript:
22:16:48 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> Kouki Yoshimune, representative of age
22:18:07 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> You may know MuvLuv and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
22:18:45 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> I'm director, character designer, mecha designer, scenario writer
22:19:12 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> kouryuu: As you mentioned, your company released these famous games, does this mean you're interested in localizing these with MangaGamer since you're here?
22:19:42 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> age: If we have a reason to, we will release it

Critical hit to everyone in the AX thread
Then, to rub it in:
23:21:27 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> Next up is... Minami Kuribayashi (singer)
23:21:34 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> In Japan, I sing and write anime songs
23:21:40 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> I also do voice acting.
23:22:03 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> So far for Kiminozo, I do the opening song and voice act.
23:22:22 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> This uniform I'm wearing today is the uniform for KimiNozo
23:23:19 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> (Missed previous line, believe it was that it was her first time in the US) And I actually had a great experience being brought here. And I'm really happy to meet all of you.
23:23:03 <bay|AX|Mangagamer> So this is the song from my debut title, KimiNozo: Rumbling Hearts

It does actually. If it carries any information, it need to have information entropy, and finite amount of it. Destroying data would increase said entropy, but at the cost of energy.
Second Law of thermodynamics states that eventually entropy is going to max out, or in other words, all data is going to be destroyed. So if, you attach to data an energy required to erase it (which will eventually have to be spent), and convert that energy to mass via E=mc^2, you get mass of that data. Put it in a gravity field and you get it's weight.

>When we inquired further regarding their English version, they revealed to us that they actually have a multilingual game engine and work flow all set up for English translations of their game. Their translation interface consists of an input box containing the original line, and the translator would just type in the translated line. After submitting, the lines would end up in a script database. In fact, 0verflow claimed that if they had all the translations, they could literally put together a localized version of a game running on that game engine within a day. However, they quoted two issues that are impeding an English release.
>The first issue is the amount of text to be translated. While it sounded like they might be willing to work with MangaGamer on that, they would really prefer the passion of a fan behind the translations, saying that it tends to produce better work than someone who is only translating a game because it is their job.
Sekai Project basically solved this problem for them.
>The second issue is that they are not familiar with the laws of countries outside Japan and would like some time to investigate those. They state for example that Japan has strict laws on putting mosaic censors on genitalia, but other countries do not. However, other countries might outlaw or restrict certain things that are fine in Japan. They raised the possibility of different releases for different markets. We brought up the recent events such as the backlash from the Rapelay controversy and how companies like minori are prohibiting overseas access to their websites and asking fan translations to stop. 0verflow had an interesting take on things.
Somebody Email MangaGamer or Sekai Project. This way we could get Schoold Days much faster.

honestly just go learn japanese you lazy mofos.
easy as hell compared to learning english as a second language for example.

100 times faster to do that than wait for these slow ass patches to come out and you get something out of it other than just fapping material.
most of these translations are terrible anyway.

the simple fact you have to learn a completely different "alphabet", containing an atrocious number of kanji, makes it hardly "100 times easier than english".

The kanji aren't difficult to just remember, and they make learning the spoken language much easier.

>The kanji aren't difficult to just remember
Which is exactly why it's generally considered to be the hardest part about learning the language? You're right that it'd be faster to learn Japanese, but the amount of time and effort it'd take isn't exactly possible for everybody.

>> No.5612436

>>5612429
Aren't difficult? Certainly not for a chinafag, but hardly something easy for any occidentalfag you see.

That and the fact you have to learn far more symbols, than you cutting edge 27 letters.

Well I don't care, i can read moon runes, but it always makes me laugh that some claim people should just learn that: if it was that easy, we wouldn't have that kind of discussion.

Personally I have a much bigger problem keeping up with spoken language without Japanese subtitles. But then again I read Japanese a hell of a lot more than I listen to it.

The hell does that have to do with learning the language? I'm not questioning the usefulness of the kanji - I'm saying that they're the largest obstacle to learning the language for most people.

>> No.5612474

>>5612452
And I'm saying kanji wasn't particularly difficult for me, but listening to vocabulary without kanji is. My biggest obstacle is the spoken language.

Not that it matters, but I guess it just shows that it depends on your methods. If you're just watching raw anime without doing much reading, learning kanji will be an extreme pain in the ass but your spoken Japanese will develop well. If you're just reading books/VNs 24/7 you won't have much trouble learning to read, but you'll probably have a hard time keeping up with the spoken language since you're relying on kanji.

>>5612416
learning kanji is just a matter of practice and repetition... that and the fact that japanese actually has a phonetic alphabet as opposed to languages like chinese, you are pointing out exactly why japanese is so much easier to learn...

not to mention all you really need is a strong grasp of grammar (no need to be strong in kanji) to play these games with the assistance tools that are out there (such as AGTH).

>> No.5612528

>>5612474
And just about every study of linguistics says otherwise. It's good you had little trouble, but for most people putting in the amount of time and effort required to memorise 2000-3000 kanji is too much for them (whether it be because they're lazy like most of /jp/ or have other commitments).

>>5612478
>you are pointing out exactly why japanese is so much easier to learn...
Compared to another language with enormous differences from European languages? Japanese is hard to learn for most because it has little in common with English, German, French etc.

>> No.5612597

>>5612528

Seconded. Japanese would be very, very easy to learn if it just was all in western alphabet. The hard part is the writing system.

using anki and kanji damage (KD to look them up and memorize) you can learn every kanji's keyword and a reading or two, 15-35 per day no problem. Once you have all those fuckers down, you learn vocab, after that, you're fucking good to go. It's not that bad. You get out of it exactly what you put in, and most people are useless faggots that don't like a 1-1 time commitment like that.

>> No.5613664

Oh yeah, apparently, we have all been trolled by Gipface. They managed to slip an original ending into Ef and most people thought it was canon.

Yes, because everybody wants to put in hours and hours of boring memorisation each day only to forgot most of it because of 'lol rote learning.' If you're talking 15-35 a day for anything but Heisig (in which you're only memorising the kanji, not the readings), you're either spending a ridiculous amount of time on it or you're going to forget most of it.

Katahane trial's gameplay involved dialogues is actually a lot less then what the extracted script contains.

The trial is basically done but unedited yet and the full game's script is already extracted.
