Not really. It's a tabloid run by an anthropomorphic and somewhat stylized version of a Japanese mythical creature descended from Chinese legends of dogs in the sky. There is no deeper thought behind it.

The human brain is preset to automatically search for messages, and so tends to see them in places where there is nothing to see.

As much as a whole lot of Touhou lore is all ZUN's invention/adaptation, historical tengu seem more and more to be EXACTLY like Aya. Constantly prowling around sticking their noses in places neither they nor anything else belongs.

You know, that bit about things that are passing into folk memory in the outside world showing up more in Gensokyo, isn't that only Rinnosuke's speculation?

Since Gensokyo isn't magical in and of itself, but rather because of the large amounts of supernatural creatures that inhabit it, why should that be true?

Huh? No, Gensokyo is definitely magical in itself. It used to be as you describe, but when the Hakurei border was created it became an official land of fantasy and stuff of fantasy is drawn to it.
