/jp/ has begun to finish a project to translate the visual novel Fate/hollow ataraxia, the fan disc to one of the highest rated according to the Japanese.

By "merged" if you mean "gave up current progress to another group and abandoned it" then yeah, I guess. From what I hear he wasn't really happy with how the others wanted to do it and agreed to give his translated works and pretty much dropped it without an official statement. Kinda sad, was hoping he'd either continue helping the wiki out or would work on his own alongside it. Seeing as how the wiki barely added anything to his work and then came to a halt it must be kind of insulting to him. Oh well.

I don't remember exactly how much his work amounted to (15-20%, IIRC, give or take some overlap with BL), but we've translated almost as much since the merge (38% currently), cleaned a lot of it up (errors and broken formatting included), and added a ton of translated images, to name a few. Plus I don't think we ever dropped below several hundred new lines per week (TLC/editing aside) - which you can even see for yourself. All of that working with the original (Japanese) version.

The reason translators shy away from this is because translators have a much broader range of eroge they have read and would rather translate.

Probably 1-2 hours per 100 lines or so (bit over 0.02%), if the text isn't too difficult and I have some motivation. A few odd phrases and some Nasuisms, and it can become more like 3-4 hours.

Btw, TL for the next release is done. I'll be doing editing/TLC only for the next few weeks.

Translator here. Yes, work goes pretty slow, because translators are hard to find and they come and go. As ranmafan said, translation for Release 2 is 100%, but they're still working on coding. Stop by our thread on the Beast's Lair forums for updates/questions.

No such thing exists. RN was meant to be a more mainstream-y version of FS/N, but Hollow is itself mostly a fan-disc, so I doubt it will happen.

F/HA isn't quite like that; scenes are unlocked as you read through but they don't have any particular order to them, for the most part the overall story is revealed in bits and pieces in whats mostly fan-service type scenes. Technically there's only 1 mandatory ero scene in the game, which is actually kinda plot-heavy. All the rest of the ero are organized into its own section called "eclipses". If your playing the game for the story and non-ero fanservice aspects of it then your free to just skip the eclipses completely. Note: there is also one non-ero eclipse as well, if your reading to completion and don't want to miss anything.

We have finished translating all the scenes planned for Release2, and I'll be focusing on TLC/editing for the next while.

The (planned) highlights for the upcoming release:

* First two flowchart sections translated and edited (i.e. with reasonable quality)
* Some additional GUI translations (some left over from Amukunau's patch, some new)
* Fixed wordwrapping patch (fixes many crashes)
* (tentative) playable Illya's Castle minigame and a few other extras

I've not tried integrating official Type Moon patches/bugfixes yet, so that will probably have to wait. Once everything is ready, I'll copy the edited scripts to SVN and tag everything to keep track of changes between releases.
