Personally I think that the reason that FSN and Tsukihime are so popular in the english fandom is simply because they are unique in their genres, despite what you can say about their qualities.

Tsukihime as a fantastical thriller and FSN as a more "epic" (in the real sense of the word) story with an underdog, a big setting with lot of seemingly impossible to overcome obstacles and a goal to reach.

At least that's what I think, these sort of eroge aren't rare in Japanese so it's too bad so few are translated.
