/jp/, I'm having a problem getting Japanese text and such installed on my new laptop. Windows 7 Home Premium.
I can read it, but I can't type it or in programs it's just garbled gibberish.
Been trying to follow the help window's help instructions, but they only help versions that I don't have, and the discs that I have are only for reinstalling or upgrading, not just installing a language.
Oh and applocale doesn't work, saying I'm missing something, but it doesn't tell me what.

Any help would be appreciated

haven't you tried to change the regional settings to Japanese and restart the pc after it?

ok, no that didn't do it.

You shouldn't need a disc. Just set your locale to Japan and add Japanese under change keyboards in the Region and Language settings.

Looked through it one more time and found what I needed.
Locale wasn't easy to see.
