Of course it she does. Being around Maribel you'd have to be blind and deaf not to believe.

I'm not really sure why fanon interprets it as Renko having doubts. Guess one idea might be that it makes their relationship "more interesting", adding another dimension with Renko's loyalty and care for her friend, despite believing her to be insane.
Personally I just enjoy the thought of Renko struggling to stay sane finding increasingly stretched logical explanations.
