Is it just me or

Tsukihime plot doesn't make any sense?

I mean, sometime Shiki wants to go back to the Mansion for Akiha, sometime for the promise, and sometime he don't even care for them.
Then, sometime Kohaku drugs Shiki, sometimes doesn't, and sometimes she doesn't kill herself in the end.

Kohaku had the same motivations in Hisui, Akiha, and Curry's routes. Shiki wasn't home during Ciel's route enough to be drugged, Roa was in control of SHIKI (meaning Kohaku wasn't actively compelling SHIKI to go apeshit on Akiha), and Akiha doesn't get involved with anything. She can't carry out her grand "Make Shiki Kill SHIKI and Maybe Akiha" plan.

If Roa is involved, the Tohno Massacre Plan can't be carried out, since Roa is trying to kill Shiki and Arc.

SHIKI stays comparatively sane in the Akiha/Hisui/Kohaku routes and Shiki doesn't slaughter Arcueid, meaning Kohaku can carry out the plan, hence her limited success in Akiha's route and GREAT SUCCESS in Hisui's route.

The motivations aren't any different.

There was no need to drug Shiki in Akiha's route, I presume, because Kohaku knew Shiki would get to the truth of the matter very quickly. Kohaku was banking on Shiki's growing attachment to Akiha turning straight into a killing impulse, which it pretty much did. Kohaku manipulated SHIKI into trying to take Akiha, SHIKI got dead, Akiha went insane, and Kohaku figured Shiki would kill her.

His decision to spare her, or, alternatively, kill himself, was probably not in Kohaku's expectations. Kohaku keeps living and helping Shiki take care of Akiha in the bad end or keeps working for Akiha in the event of Shiki's death, so I assume Kohaku is fine with the result to some degree, so long as SHIKI is deceased and Akiha is tortured sufficiently.

Kohaku likes Akiha, after all, so her manipulations against her are wonky to begin with.
