Well, seeing as this board is slowly turning to shit, (summer, /a/, cancer, etc.) let's have a meaningful game discussion. /jp/ related of course!

Aside from Cosmic lolibots, what are you guys playing?
I recently shuffled through some old boxes and found my old Deus Ex CD. Currently re-playing that.

Aside from that I gave Mirror's Edge a try for the PC. Fucking disappointed. I don't know if it's my computer or just a shitty port, but the game runs fine on high settings x4 AA 1280x1024 I get around 74 fps but once glass shatters I lag like balls, can't even get passed early stages of the game. Might be because I don't have an Nvidia card. Would it be worth to reinstall my old 8800GTS as a PhysX card and trying again? I have a HD 5870. Aside from this I also re-installed Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic

I've had Eien no Aselia on my hard drive for a while, been pondering to play that as well. Is it worth the install?

>> No.5405311

Update your game, disable PhysX. The glass shattering and dropping fps to 3 was a common problem.

This topic is bordering /b/log and /v/, but I'll answer just for the fun for it.

InFamous and Ninja Gaiden Sigma on Ps3.
Assassin's Creed II on PC.
Still playing Soul Silver on my DS.

Maybe you should stop trying to pin the blame and just accept that /jp/ isn't meant to be.

Wasn't there some "Official Benchmarking Tool" released for people to test their pcs? I heard its impossible to get the highest score on it.

I was playing Witch's Wish earlier today.

I'm playing Persona 4 for the first time, and apparently the game gave me BAD END for not being a pussy shit.
On a more /jp/ related note, replaying Sengoku Rance.

Phenom II X4 965 BE and 5870 here, the "benchmark" tool gives me ~4400 points on both high and low settings. Apparently you can score a maximum of 8000 points, but the game is incredibly cpu intensive so you couldn't reach that score unless you had an 8 core processor or something.

You've got to be real dense if you don't guess that Namatame is innocent.

I have been playing that tower defense game for PSP, monsters deluxe I think it's called. It's pretty fun, although some levels are pretty stupid and certain towers are nearly useless.

Also just beat bioshock 2, much less satisfying ending than the first.

Who was I supposed to believe was the killer? I already knew the main 'bad guy' was Adachi from all of the images everywhere, but so far nothing strongly suggests it was anyone but Namatame. I guess the letters show that something's up, but I've learned from most games that thinking too hard is a lost cause when it comes to video game stories.

Going through the entire Sega CD library right now. If you can look past the FMV garbage and Genesis ports, it has a fantastic library of games.

Any non-FMV/VN/dating sim/etc. imports worth playing? The japs recommended me Yumimi Mix (visual novel) and Urusei Yatsura (point-and-click) but those types of games aren't my thing.

OP

Running physX on an ATI Card is like running a car on candlewax. Nvidia rigged the drivers so that ATI cards do not even get to though the physics data and calculates everything on your CPU.

tl;dr Turn off physx support in options, receive smooth framerates. All you'll miss out on are tarps and some extra glass shatters.

I was bored enough to whip out Zsnes and power through secret of mana, I'll go run through chrono trigger and see if I can get cross to work on epsx or something.

that should last me until the weekend, at least.

OP here, thanks for the tip. The game runs even smoother than before. I seriously gave up way too soon.

>>5406155
I could install the old card and have it run just as a dedicated PhysX card. There's guides on how to do it and it seems easy enough. I might hate Nvidia but the 8800gts is a damn good card, had it since 07' and it still runs like a champ.

But honestly whenever I see a "The Way it's Meant to be Played" logo on any game I steer clear away from it. Mirror's Edge was an exception.
