It's not the "holy" nature of the weapon that does it against Nero. Nero isn't actually a vampire, anyway. He's an amalgamation produced through alchemical research. The weapon has to be able to deal damage to 666 targets simultaneously, the number of lives that exist within Nero.. Excalibur and Ea are two weapons capable of doing that.
