How many guys on /jp/ have a katana, I'm thinking of buying one.

I own several. A Paul Chen Practical Plus Katana and Wakizashi. 2 Masahiros, One Musashi (Replica of a NCO Gunto), and 2 Furubushidos. I like them all for different reasons, but the Paul Chen is my pride and joy. However, if you are on a budget, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Masahiro or Musashi. I have cut quite a deal of tatami with all of them and I have no complaints. Shell out 100 bucks on a Masahiro, but take some time, the weapon should reflect who you are as a person. Even in this day and age of technology, the bond you have with your weapon is special. Be sure to take care of it, and it will protect you if need be.

Gomenasai /jp/, my name is Ken-Sama.

I'm a 27 year old American Otaku. I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, God Hand)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer for Square Enix!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Japan!

The -same at the end of his own name, the fact that he speaks of a 'sword license' and the idea of a 20-something going into a high school are the best parts of this, somewhat stale, pasta.

Early runs of the Orchid line tend to have poor scabbards, with loose fit at the mouth and some excess glue around the end cap. But that's about it - otherwise a good sword, if a bit overly decorated.
Read some complaints that the hilt would be too long, but that is all up to personal preference. If all else fails, know there are third parties that make replacement tsuka for Paul Chen series.

Personally, though, think I'll stick with my Embleton.

Considering a decent blade build by hand by someone like Sadatoshi would set you back at least 100k... I doubt anyone on /jp/ other than perhaps Mugen and BOOF could afford that.

That said, I wouldn't mind having one as an investment due to their great ability to increase in value if they're made by a master.
