Chinese President Visits Japan

Beijing, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Chinese President Hu Jintao will join a State visit to Japan from May 6 to 10 aimed at boosting bilateral relations.

According to the ministry's report this is the first visit of a Chinese Head of State to a neighbor country in a decade since the last one by Jiang Zemin in 1998.

Hu will be welcomed by Emperor Akihito and hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda dealing with relations between the two nations, the biggest Asian economies.

Ministry spokesman Jiang Yu said the leader will meet parliamentarians, political parties and people from all spheres to discuss Chinese-Japan relations and other issues of common interest.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi traveled to Tokyo this month to prepare Hu Jintao's agenda.
