Everything else is situational or just preference. Elemental Atk or Normal 2 S Up (For not elemental weak bosses) goes well with Lao HBG, Pierce S Up with Narga's.

His moves are easily readable,but the terrain in which you fought him(usually places with little maneuver spaces) will make you suffer. There are times I can see his attacks coming but I can't evade it because there's no room to roll left. And his fucking zigzag jump is annoying and hard to read when you're far from him.

Also slow camera didn't help either. I fucking hope they removed this cheating bastard out of MH3P.

MH3 is bringing too many casual shits into MH threads. Let's set the ground rules right now.

Just for a tl;dr: MH is like Dwarf Fortress combined with Stalker and EU3 with all the expansions, only deeper, more challenging, and more atmospheric than all three combined.

Monster Hunter is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Monster Hunter requires.

This is why Monster Hunter threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.

Conversely, the only people who don't like Monster Hunter clearly don't have the skills to handle its depth. It is too hardcore for them. That's okay though. Games like Halo exist for people like them Monster Hunter fans are too good to hold grudges.

Longswords are the way to go with Yama. When he slams his tentacles in front of him, pay attention to how many he used: if there are two, he's about to do his blowjob, which is an insta-kill move unless you're wearing an armor that gives Guts, so you should just run away and jump off the stage; if there are four, slash away.
When he does that spinning move, stop, sheathe your weapon and crouch. You won't get hit.
Other than that his moves are pretty easy to dodge, but soloing him will still take about 40 minutes if it's the first time you're fighting him.

pretty easy once you know when to strike. Wait until it lands its tentacles, then hit it with 2 lvl3 charge from GS. If done correctly, it will lift it up just after your 2nd hit. If its in rage mode it will usually be followed with its vacuum attack. Either throw a tranq bomb or jump down. Rinse, repeat.

I tend to work around situations like that.

Say I need a [Sphere of Penis Enlargement] to complete Armor-X, but said item only has a 0.1% chanse of dropping on a 30 something minute fight.
I gather all items besides the prementioned item and- get this- CHEAT to obtain the cockhead.

Sure theres alot of baw to recieve from such an act, but like hell I'm going to spend hours trying to obtain something so far out of reach.

Alright, noob here asking for some advice.
I beat my first Tigrex some time ago, then the one from guild quests to reach HR 3, as well as a few other new monsters unlocked after that.
I've been using gunlances 'till now, and am currently using the Imperial Gunlance with the Hermitaur full set + gems to get gunnery and guard +1.
I don't really know what to do for now, but I'd like to know if my current gear will suffice for some more time or if I really should get something better right now.

I also main gunlances and had exactly the same armor set as you do for low rank quest,didn't bother changing it until high rank. (Well,I did made Diablos set to counter Kusha and Chameleos' annoying wind)

Low rank armors are mostly shit anyway,you need to get to hirank to get any decent upgrades.
