Good games. A couple of things I'd like to mention:

You should block more. I was using some pretty risky moves there, which you could've easily punished on block. Also, I see you like Youmu's alternative 214 graze attack, maybe a bit too much. I kept falling for it at first but it leaves you pretty vulnerable if it gets blocked. Be more careful with moves like that, use them when you think the opponent won't have time to block them.

EXCUSES MADE BY LOW TIER SCRUBS

>> No.5330574

>>5330518
They are not unlockables. If you don't see them in the character select screen, it's because your game can't find the data files for them. I don't know what will happen if you try to join a game if you don't have original SWR characters, but I'll assume that either you can't connect or both players will be limited to Hisoutensoku characters only. Most hosts would probably quit because of that.

So basically, yes, you'll need to have all of the original SWR characters available if you want to play.

While I can certainly tell from your antics that I'm not anywhere near as good as I'd like to be -- ESPECIALLY defensively -- I cannot improve against serious opponents if I do not have one to fight against. Please don't hold back against me. GGs, 0. I beat you a couple times just spamming 5AAAA, but it's obvious you're much better than me, especially when it comes to air combos. I didn't feel like I was playing my best today, especially since I decided it would be a good idea to not block half of the time. Thanks for the games.

I'll be honest, I think that was some of the best combo stringing I've ever done. I startled myself with how clean my first game opener went with Sakuya. I'm not joking when I say you're the first person I've beaten with any regularity. That might be the quality of my opponents as much as anything.

It was nice to gain a bit of confidence in myself through those rounds. I get the feeling you're new to the game, though.

You have the most non-troll deck I've ever seen on a Sakuya. You should try out some of her other specials. The blue and red slashy are both very good.

For the corner (hoping you understand this terminology...), practice 5aaa 2b hjc9 j2a (land it as fast and low as possible to catch grazers) j2b d3 (repeat). Once you have that down, there's a lot you can mix it up with.

Reversals as in Bombs and Counters, or Reversals as in invincible startup SCs? The first it fine, especially it it's a character like Sakuya who doesn't have quick attacks to get them out of pressure. It's it's the second, not so much a "troll" deck than it is "I'm lazy and can't beat pressure" decks.

It really doesn't even matter. I just said non-troll as a really relaxed deck that doesn't leave his opponent much to worry about as far as reversals, high damage output and annoying skills go. I just think he should use a bit more of Sakuya's better cards, since she has a great variety of them and he was only using that 2 card homing knives one.

About Youmu's press, you should poke in a j6A that's too high. The only thing I can do before slowly falling on the ground is j6C, and it usually whiffs on crouching opponents, sometimes even on standing ones.

With pink circles (when Youmu's press becomes really interesting), it's basically a 50/50 for you to escape. First of all, 6A/3A > pink circles chains, so you can't high jump there.

After pink circles, I have a few options for me to press: sJ jA, that beats your sJ but ends my press if you didn't jump. Not a very good option.
j6A works nicely against front graze, poke, and maybe sJ, but it's pretty dramatic on block if it's done too high. After j6A I can either j6C or jB. j6A jB is the moment for you to poke, it has a huge gap before the B bullets to appear. If you block them, I have a lot of free time to reset my press. j6A j6C is pretty random, sometimes myon hits, sometimes not. I'm not really confident about the frame advantage or how to hit here, I'd appreciate if an experienced Youmu player could tell me.
Finally, sJ j2A f. 5A (that is, returning to the ground after high-jump cancelling, j2A only serves to return to the ground faster) works against front graze but loses to sJ (you can escape if you try), and maybe fast pokes too.

So, "easy" things to watch out for: b bullets after a 6A or a j6A must be an immediate graze/poke from you. Note that I can counter that by using a 623C and cancelling it into clone spellcard if done on block, tho.

>> No.5335923 [DELETED]

>>5335919
And the rekka, well, it's a pretty dramatic move imo. You usually don't block it beyond the 2nd hit a close-range: the 3rd hit has to be super fast to counter your poke, and even if I stop after the 2nd hit and want to block, I will not be able to. At close range that is. Most people don't do the 3rd hit, on hit it does low damage, not combo-able into nothing (maybe on CH), and you take the risk of eating a full combo/spellcard. Also, I'm totally negative after cancelling the 3rd hit into clone spellcard. That's just a gimmick: if you time your poke right you will hit everytime.

Any good Youmu player around have feelings about that in general? I really lack information and my press feels too gimmicky and random, even more theoretically than in execution.

Good games Mungay. I was getting pretty tired and my wrists started to hurt near the end.. 45 Komachi vs. Youmu matches. Well, not that I mind.

You really need to cut out using that j2A attack of yours so often and without bullet cover, now that I've finally learned to input 623 at least somewhat reliably in tight spots.

Another thing, when in corner, you can easily escape by grazing my B -bullets, like said by >>5335919

Good games, Idler. My thumb got just as sore as always.

I know that I have to stop using the j.2a like that, but it's more deeply rooted than I expected.
Actually, once I get rid of one bad habit, I just tend to gain another one, and I have a tendency to play too repetatively against all my opponents. As you probably noticed, my 6[A] spam for example, which of course, had no effect at all most of the time, bah.

It never hit me that I could escape your corner pressure like that, I'll definitely put that to mind, I'll also start focusing more on your spellcards and the weather counter from now on. Well, easier said than done in my case.

Anyway, I really have to start playing more, or else I'll get left in the dust. Actually, I've already been.

Something that slipped my mind earlier, but I think you're better off using alt. 214 Permanent Border than Binding Border for Reimu. It seems more useful defensively and great for spirit draining.

Your blockstrings can be pretty easy to escape since you love doing the same stuff a lot, but you were actually changing it up towards the end.

I'm really bad when it comes to reading when a tree (or forest) is coming. Hooray for eating over 2k damage a pop off of those damn huge trees!

Yeah. I don't know most of the characters yet, so I'm pretty weak against most opponents, and my defensive game is pretty weak. I'm OK at combos when I'm not too frustrated with trying not to get killed. Also, lulz, misrepresentation.

Yeah, default decks are no fun. Those last games where we ditched random were pretty fun. I've been playing for about a month, so I guess I'm not "new" but I'm still as shitty as when I started, so I get to be in perpetual "learning how to play" tier.

GGs good sir. I now know that Supah Kawaii desu ne-tier is more formidable than I could've imagined.

I didn't realize that Suwako could be so versatile in options for corner pressure, and you really taught me how useful her ridiculous hitbox on 1A, 66B, and j8A could be.

Now that I'm done being a sandbag, I think I'll try looking into suwako combos to avoid my inexperience against her turn the outcome into a total rapefest again.

I don't know what it is about you but, I couldn't land most of the combos that I attempted on you. I don't know if it was my automatic handicap stepping in or your wierd movement, but I felt that those were the worst games I have played in a long time...

Why is Marisa the fastest person in Gensokyo but in Soku she is one of the slowest?

>> No.5341111

I almost always play against opponents better than myself. So I'm good at making sporadic movements to try to minimize the damage as much as possible. Kinda.

>>5341070

Marisa is quite fast, I don't know what you're talking about. And in the other games she's only fast because of her broomstick. And she's quite fast when you use her broomstick moves. So its all fine imo.
