Regardless if you don't like their relationship, learning more about her, her past, her traits and insecurities can't make her a worse character than a route where we learn almost nothing of her, unless you have an irrational hatred of Tsunderes.

I don't hate tsundere, I like them when they are well executed.
In FATE, Rin was really fun but everything about her was cliché in UBW, be it her personality, past or her character development.
Learning more about her was fine but it was done in a really bland manner.

It was funny, she had more chemistry with her Servant than she did with Shirou. It's part of why the whole Rin/Archer fan pairing is so popular. Besides, if you squint really hard, it could point that Rin was Archer's lover in his time and he "lost" her.

And by the time Archer was completely batshit waiting for Shirou using Rin as bait. And all the things he said to Shirou were to purposely piss him off.(I'm not saying EMO, he was not emo, he went completely insane until he had the battle with Shirou)

Rin is not shit. Rin is awesome. I like her a hell of a lot better than Saber.
