I was approached by two mormons today. They told me they're spreading the word of the God and asked me what's my belief. I had five minutes to kill so I kinda sorta started to spread the faith of Kanako. Did I do good?

Did you literally go, "I worship a cartoon goddess called Kanako." or did you try and be creative with it and actually make it seem like a real religion?

I tried to make it seem real. Something about how nature's powers and elements are gods and so on though I didn't get to finish because I had to go as I was waiting someone.

This.

OMG THERES A TOOHOO NAMED KANAKO AND SHE HAS HUGE TITS AND SHES TOTALLY AWESOME = you're a fag.

I worship an earth goddess named Kanako, who is an embodiment of a snake, who deposed a goddess named Suwako, the embodiment of a frog, in a massive ancient war. = much more win.

They're even here, two sort of fat girls approach me and ask me something in weird Croatian. I reply with "You're American right?". I had time to kill so I actually talked about random shit with them and I always derailed their god topics. It was fun and a nice opportunity to talk English.

Yeah, they were pragmatic as hell in that regard. Converting everyone would've been a waste of time. The Catholic church to this day resorts to subversion of local rituals into saint worship.

Not like that, Romans would worship everyone just not in equal measure, focusing mostly on their patron deity/ies or whatever except in times of need.

>> No.5309467

Usually priestess or whatever would be dedicated to one god, but greeks and romans would ask favor from whatever god fit their current situation.

Certain Hindu sects encourage devotees to dedicate themselves to one god and find connection to the ultimate reality through that.

I'm not too sure on how shinto works, but it's an animistic religion that assumes everything in the world has a god of it. I don't think shinto beleivers consider worshiping anything below a certain rank, though they'd certainly pay respect to them.
