He comes from a different timeline where things weren't exactly the same as FSN. They mentioned a few things in narration that hinted at how it went but I can't remember much, been too long.

Encountered Saber the same way as Shirou did in the game.
Strong possibility that Avalon was never removed.
Was unable to "free" Saber.
Had a special relationship with Ilya. Probably guilt?
Did not necessarily have a sexual relationship with either Saber or Rin.
First time he projected a weapon, he screwed up one of his arms.
Pendant is void of maryoku unlike the pendant existing in the present.
Possibly a product of a timeline where Rin's Servant was a different Archer.
Had an unpleasant experience in England involving a bridge and the Thames.
Encountered Gungnir at some point (either that or embedded knowledge through summonings).
Stuck in a situation where he needed a miracle to save less than a hundred lives. Contract with the world was made at this point.
Contract with the world granted him physical augmentation in addition.
Killed for starting a war by a person that he had saved (who also happened to be the one who started it).

this is basically what is known about him. Maybe one or two endings fit if slightly modified.

Rin's past the point of no return when she killed Sakura. She's now committed to winning the Grail. Shirou can no longer let that happen.

Final battle will probably be Shirou backstabbing Rin (any way to win remember?) and probably killing Kotomime too. Along the way, he kills off everyone else. Yes. Gil included. Somehow.

Personally I'd kill Rin in a way that didn't harm her body too much (magic circuit exhaustion?) then my wish would be to reanimate her corpse as my 100% obedient, sentient undead slave. Chaotic evil necromancer end. Kotomine would approve.

They pull some magic ritual out of their butts that allows them to cut off Gil's access to the Gate. So he can no longer pull out his weapons / EA. Seem like a stretch? Not really any more than anything else that happened. Maybe Tohsaka could contribute with her Zelretch dimensional knowledge; you know close off inter-dimensional reach for him or something.

In Heaven's Feel, like you can see in the Prologue, Archer gave his pendant to Rin while Rin's was left with Shirou. Archer's pendant didn't have any energy while Shirou's had a small amount.

I really want to play through all the arcs again.
Even though it can be a bit confusing at times, and the writing can be a bit weird, it's a great story.
