ITT: Underrated Touhou themes
Hard mode: No fan-made remixes

I'll start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--UuWfB2H4o

>> No.5257851

That song's catchy, I looped it forever the first time I discovered it. Pretty much all the music CD songs are underrated though.

ZUNs music CDs aren't underrated, they're just virtually unknown.

IaMP was pretty badass to me. Maybe underrated isn't the right word for the IaMP tracks though, I've never really seen anyone bash it or anything.

I love IaMP's music.

SWR/UNL is okay overall, Flowering Night in SWR is glorious, Legendary Fish is nice, as is the Ground's Color is Yellow. Some are just plain "no thanks" for me.

But really, Flowering Night gets hated on quite a bit just because it's not as hardcore as Luna Dial.

I love Legendary Fish, there's another underrated one. Sure, it's basically one thing repeated for the whole song, but it's such a great dreamy melody, and it has dat zun polka beat.

I remember when A Flower-Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe used to be quite popular.

I see no arrangements or anything of it now.

>> No.5258033

>>5258024
It was popular? I always felt it was heavily overshadowed by her stage theme.

>> No.5258034

>>5258008
That seems like a very easy song to arrange, too. The only one I can think of is a shitty one SYNC ART'S did on an otherwise great album. Or rather, an otherwise decent album that was remixed into a great album on disc 2.

>> No.5258046

I never, ever see anyone sucking the dick of ZUN's theme song, even though it is so brilliant.

Yeah I don't remember it ever being too popular.

It sure got more arrangements than a certain other stage 3 boss's theme, though. ;_;

Til when will my great actual theme song be popular?

>> No.5258075

To me that one's only enjoyable while I'm playing. If I try listening to it otherwise it feels tedious and overly repetitive.

I really expected that Demetori's arrangement would at least boost it's popularity a little bit. It didn't, ha.

I always imagine ZUN's head looming over the horizon in the beginning.

>>5258062
I like both her themes. Besides piano pieces, the only notable arrangement of Till When I can remember off the top of my head is Kokuyasou's arrangement.

Those songs at least get SOME arrangements (except Mai's I guess). Maple Wise is my favorite PC-98 song and the only arrange it has is a Masayoshi one that sounds nothing like it (thanks, Masayoshi).

I always thought Lullaby was fucking popular.

>>5258122
Yeah, that's another one. But really, the melody of Broken Moon is basically IaMP's theme, so I guess it's sort of justified by its popularity.

IaMP had AMAZING credits.

Er, that is, "it's popularity is sort of justified", and I didn't finish my post before sending.

I was going to say how it's still a pity though that Onigashima is neglected. But even then, it really seems like a case of those songs that no arrangement can really stand up to.

I like Bad Apple. I was actually happy to see it's huge boost in popularity, thinking, "Man, there will finally be tons of arrangements!"

You can imagine my disappointment when many of the arrangements were based off of or similar to Alstroemeria Record's version.

Yeah, and the song is kind of specific and doesn't have catchy melodies that you can slap into any genre. I think that's why you hardly ever see Luna Dial arrangements too.
