Pic related.

Saw some posts on /a/ about something called "Saya no Uta". Saw some people saying that it was good. Decided to try it on a complete whim while knowing absolutely nothing about it.

I was hooked five seconds in when I promptly went "WHAT THE FUCK?!".

Probably, True Love. But I was unable to finish it when I was a kid. Then, the next thing I got to play is Tsukihime. Moonspeak power is low so I can only rely on translations atm.

Fate/Stay Night I guess but I didn't read more after that until about a year later when I read Five, Clannad, and Little Busters! that I started reading them regularly

A friend suggested I try Kana Little Sister/

A few years ago I was browsing J-list which I had found by chance on some forum or other and was searching the dating-sims category not knowing anything about what they are and in doing so I found one that looked like I might enjoy it so I decided to buy the download only version so my grandma would find out. It was Heart de Roommate looking back it wasn't really that good but it still has a special place in my heart.

Back in 2000 or so, I was searching for hentai pics and somehow stumbled upon DOS hentai games. Seasons of Sakura/3 Sister's Story/Runaway Club/Knights of Xentar/Cobra Mission.

I ended up enjoying those games, especially 3 sister's story, so I searched for more. I found Divi Dead/May Club/Nocturnal Illusions, which I also enjoyed. Unfortunately I lost my internet connection soon after.

Fastforward to 2005 (I think), I finally have an internet connection. Literally the first thing I did was to go to JAST USA's website and find out their new games. I then torrented those games. Unfortunately they were all mindless sexromps without any story so I got bored and wrote off the medium altogether.

Fastforward to 2008, while searching for hentai animes I stumbled upon a download link for Yume Miru Kusuri. I decided to download it but then forgot about it. About a few months later I was bored and was browsing on my folders randomly and I found that game. I thought to myself "Why not?" and played it. I ended up not sleeping and played a whole route in one sitting and was crying at the ending. I was floored, I never expected that a hentai game could have such a good and emotional story. It rekindled my enthusiasm in the medium. from that day on I referred to them as Visual Novels.

>> No.5234700

Oh hey, this game has some sort of skulls and tits and shit this looks cool as fucking hell! Time to download Divi-Dead, which takes forever, and costs money to keep the dial-up going.

But holy shit, was it worth it. Then I went for other random shit like that virtual reality game (introduced me to delicious "I want to be the little girl") and the one with the mermaid shit (introduced me to delicious monster girls).

Saw some shit called 'Katwa Shoujo' on /v/, apparently it was good or some shit. Played it, got bored because it was complete bollocks. Saw the 'Yume Miru Kusuri' advertisements by jlist on 4chan, as well as a few /v/ threads saying it was good shit, so I tried it out. Shit was brilliant, great beginner visual novel, not overrated at all in my opinion.

When I was a newfag, scrolling through anime and manga forums like nobody's business, I stumbled uppon a VN thread.

I casually downloaded Tsukihime to see what the fuck VNs were about. One thing led to another and by now I've read over 30 translated VNs and I am learning moonrune deciphering just so I could read untranslated ones because I'm loving this shit so much.

Bible Black, years ago, from /b/.
I remember at first just thinking of it as more fap material, then I started getting further and further into the evil routes and actually ended up skipping most of the sex scenes, but then I went back to read them in case I missed anything. I cleared the entire game in 1 sitting.

Decade or so back, when shit was distributed via floppies and BBS'es and I was reading English with a dictionary, I've stumbled upon a CD, some kind of a "1000 games" ot the like. All pirated, of course, there was no legit software here by definition (not that it's much better now). Among other not-so-shit, it had Dragon Knight (3?): Knights of Xentar, which was some challenge to hack with Game Wizard 32. But that's not the point. The point was 3 sisters story.
