Why are so many doujins I see shit? They look like rough sketches and they're done so sloppily it's difficult to even understand what I'm looking at.

I don't care much for superficial technical quality. If the characters are drawn in an exciting way and the situation, setting, story, etc. are all good is what makes it erotic or not. Anyone can create a doujin that looks good, making a doujin that is fucking hot is a whole different ballgame.

Doujinshi done in a sketchy style can actually be pretty good. But yeah, I know what you mean; in all likelihood, it's probably because, unlike professional artists, there isn't much of an entry barrier to the market of doujinshi works.
