I've been in Osaka 2 years now. Only thing you need to know is it's crowded as fuck and sometimes nationalists will shout stuff at you in Japanese. Just tell them to get fucked and they don't bother you. Also watch casual sex encounters. There are a lot of women who sleep with white men because they assume they have money. You can get a nasty STD this way and it's not nice having to go to a Japanese hospital as a gaijin and explain that your dick is leaking puss.

Also, really really really study the customs and traditions. You can really offend certain people, and they don't consider the fact that you're foreign an excuse.

you've never been there have you. Yea, they hate foreigners. But only if you act like a fucking idiot or go everywhere alone.
That place that wouldn't let you in before? Go there with friends, or go in a business suit.
Never talk much, be polite but don't talk pointlessly.
Most places would be happy to take your money then just shun you, unless you are literally disgusting to look at or purposely trying to stand out.

I don't think you understand.

You are sub-human to them. It's not a queston of being presentable; the question is already answered. You are white and therefore you are below them.

Asians in generally are particularly xenophobic but Japan is noticeably hysterical about it.

Ya? Blacks are considered subhuman in russia, to the point that being black in russia and walking around at night alone is asking to be murdered.

Being anything other then white in the USA, makes you looked down upon.

Being Muslim in Europe is very controversial.

Being jewish sucks everywhere.

You should understand that people like their own kind better, if you go somewhere else guess you aren't top tier anymore. The best you can hope to do is to not break laws, understand traditions, don't speak with a horrible accent, and get connections. If you can do that, it's no different then being any of the things I have said...Cept the russian thing...Seriously, don't be black in russia.

>Being anything other then white in the USA, makes you looked down upon.
Now I know that you really have no idea how Japanese people perceive white people. Sure you won't get murdered, but think of it like this. You see an animal walk into your store. I don't know how you'd react to that, but most people would react with some urge to get it out of there and would probably find it highly unusual. Then the animal starts wanting to buy things from your store, speaking to you in broken English. How do you react?

>> No.5216192

>>5216170
If an animal was carrying around a mouth full of ¥10000 bills I would gladly accept it.
And ya, I agree about the broken english. It is insulting to try to interact with most locals if you don't even know how to speak.
Tourism doesn't count.

This is a strikingly accurate representation of what occurs. I'm Japanese but I was born and brought up in the USA and so my Japanese isn't that good even though I would say I'm fluent. I also have a fairly subtle accent that's not too noticeable but noticeable to natives. Even though I'm Japanese I get discriminated against in Japan and when they think I don't understand what they're saying, it's not unusual for relatives to talk badly about me right in front of my face.

Also this. The ones who do not regard you as some strange subhuman entity will regard you as a sheep ready to be fleeced for all you are worth. China is particularly bad for this (I don't have as much experience with China, though) but assume that if in Asia, you are making an informal purchase (no price tag, not a chain store etc) you are paying more than any native would have to.

I mean yeah they do it in Europe too but it's not quite as glaringly obvious.
