You know, I believe moot should take his head off his ass and try to use captchas, at least until he finds a better way to deal with all these spambots. Sure, it may not be able to get rid of all of them, but at least the more shabbily-made ones will be gone.

Did a moderator tell you that? That's usually their way of saying "go away" or "I don't feel like doing it." You have to be more direct with them. Give them a long winded PM and then stalk them until they unban you.

I've always been afraid of doing something wrong and them banning me from the chat. Having an identity makes you fear authority.

>> No.5212029,13 [INTERNAL]

>>5212029,12
It would take less than a minute for you to register a junk nick with a junk mail and join #4chan, roughly the same amount of time as it would take to get a new IP address.
I think it's more a case of you fearing what you don't understand.

>> No.5212029,14 [INTERNAL]

I got that perma-ban too. Kind of fucking lame. But getting banned from 4chan isn't really what bothers me, since I only go there when I can't sleep.

What bothers me, despite the fact that I think this ban is complete bullshit, is the remote possibility that my computer really is part of a botnet and I don't know it. My antivirus software didn't turn up anything. If there are bots on my computer, how would I know?

...

But I guess it doesn't matter. After typing all that stuff above, I just double-checked 4chan, and I'm magically unbanned... probably not because of the appeal, since they never replied and I didn't give them my IP address. Is this ban just a mistake like >>5208650 said? Or did my IP randomly change on its own? I'm not sure how often my IP changes with fucking Verizon, but apparently it happens.

>> No.5212029,15 [INTERNAL]

>I just double-checked 4chan, and I'm magically unbanned
Really? I am still banned and it says my appeal is still awaiting review.
At first I thought the issue would somewhat handle itself, perhaps even before I got the chance to appeal.
Was I naive? I still hope the issue can be resolved smoothly, but it has still taken longer than what I first thought it would have.

I have been unbanned after appealing one time, but that was years ago, I think. The last time, which was more recent, I accidentally got banned for 2 weeks for using "flamoot" in my post and I appealed but got no reaction and had to sit it out.

>> No.5212029,20 [INTERNAL]

>>5212029,18
They used to review appeals fairly quickly, but thanks to the stretched moderation team and ever growing userbase, processing ban appeals is low on their priorities. As a moderator once said on /a/, "at any given moment I have 2xxx ban requests I have to attend to."

>> No.5212029,21 [INTERNAL]

>>5212029,20
Is that so?
At first I thought it would be fixed rather quickly, as soon as they had realized that people have gotten banned by mistake. (I do believe it's a mistake)
