What is the best job for a /jp/ user?
We are Hikki/NEET, I know, and I would be a NEET for the rest of my life if I could, but I know I will have to get a job at some point, so I wanted to hear your opinions.
The best thing I could come up with until now was librarian, since it's moe and you don't have to deal with people too much.

Also - not joking - sell pot. In Canada, anyway, it's easy and low risk since EVERYBODY smokes the stuff. You can rake in hundreds and hundreds. And it's not like selling crack or meth and you're going to get caught. But this is probably stupid advice for most people.

You could always go for a smething in the goverment. I don't know it works fr you guys, but in my country all you ned to do is to pass on a test (and maybe an interview, depends on the job) and can pass judgement on others.

Work for a contractor doing stuff like fire-watching. The pay is good and all you do is sit around watching a guy wielding for 12 hours straight. You can listen to music or draw or play your games, as long as you don't get caught by the supervisor.

All valid points. Job Corps I wasn't sure of; we don't have it in Canada but I suspected it would be full of thugs and recently released convicts.

Warehouse is hard work but for a hiki it would be good exercise and muscle building, however pointless.

Honestly, the best thing I've ever done is freelance writing. I'm a very skilled writer and love politics. I got 3500 dollars once for a story that was published in www.walrusmagazine.com. But I guess you need a specific interest in writing or a subject to do this.

Sadly, no work is really geared toward NEETs. It Japan, they have a program called New Start where they help find hikis jobs. Most of them include working at restaurants , in kitchens or washing dishes. I'm not sure how well anybody would last here, though.

How is being a custodian any higher than working in a book store? Most people in bookstores are university students and hipsters...where custodians are fresh off the boat immigrants or poor white trash that can't do anything else but clean up after people.

Custodian work is easy to get, but if you can get a job at a book store, I'd take that. Sweeping floors and emptying trash bins is not glamorous and looks bad on a resume.

Nobody on /jp/ is a normalfag for fucks sake, take a minute and look at what this board is about. Some people are just forced to find employment because either their parents or government or some other legal reason (an apartment lease, for example) makes them work. I'm 25 and forced to work because my parents rent their home and if I'm not in university (I'm not) or work I would be homeless. I'm hardly a normalfag because I failed school at 15 and have not had any friends since leaving. Working does not change this. Real life isn't NHK where your mom and dad pay your rent and bills out of their own pocket. The real world does not work this way.

It's a cultural specific thing in Asia, primarily Japan and Korea, called 甘え. On top of that, many families become ashamed that their son/daughter is a NEET and would rather just support them with their own apartment rather than have a 25+ year old man who does not leave his bedroom and watches anime.

Where in the West it's customary for children to start looking at the prospects of moving out, education, a job, apartment etc etc. It's much more independent here.

I run surveillance at a dam. Check wells, go down in the gallery to check test hole pressure, temp etc. Been doing it for a few years and am making 22 an hour. No one else really wanted it because it was boring and tedious aka same shit every day. I rather enjoy it and the gallery is always an interesting place.
