ill admit at first i found /jp/ 's interest in 2d girls quite odd, but i was cool with it, i mean you like what you like right?
But lately i have been obsessing over some 2d pictures and i have been neglecting the real.
now matter how revealing the pictures are my lust for them is never satisfied
if you went through this /jp/ tell me what i should do?
-pic unrelated for now -

Somebody explain to me why people insist on adding "ze" to the end of Marisa's sentences in English when it doesn't mean anything and can easily be replaced by English linguistic quirks.

I never went through NOT obsessing over 2D, so I don't know where you're coming from.

How are you going to translate something that doesn't mean anything?

well does the 2D always satisfy you, cause i keep wanting more that what i see

some Japanese guys talk with "ze" after the scentence.
so ZUN pretty much wanted Marisa to talk like a guy, so people can understand her behavior and stuffs..

on topic: buy an onahole.

Would you rather have her translated stuff always end in "Yo"?

You can't translate a Japanese male linguistic quirk.

But you can rewrite her speech to sound more masculine, can't you? Isn't this what translation is?

>> No.5154222

>>5154197

"ze" is impossible to translate, and you really can't. English speech, for the most part, is gender neutral and there are VERY FEW differences between male and female speech patterns.

>> No.5154235

>>5154222
Well, okay. How about you throw in a "yo" once in a while, truncate a few "-ing"s, and leave it at that? I find it unseemly when Japanese fragments are left in by the translator, especially left unexplained.

>> No.5154252

Nice, this thread is quickly going down the road of the "how to properly translate" shitstorm. I guess it's better than the normalfag shit the OP was talking about.

Actually, what confuses me even more is when people writing dialogue for Marisa in English append "ze" to most of her sentences. What's the point? We know what she's supposed to talk like and there's no argument for preserving the original text.
