So, about episode 6.

Doesn't anyone think Erika's way of playing was kinda rude?

She interfered with Battler's story, and killed the supposedly dead victims. Now, my memory might be a bit vague, but isn't that the same as me reading a Mystery Novel, enter the story, kill every supposed dead character, and fuc all things up?

I might have some faulty memories regarding this, so bear with me.

Rude is trying to make a murder mystery where no people get killed.

Well, let me rephrase.

Let's suppose there's a mystery novel where the culprit is one of the supposed victims. I know it's a weak plot, but bear with me.

Let's say 10 characters 'die' on the first night, and the culprit is among those, so only nine died for real.

Let's say I enter the book, chop everyone's head off, and leave the story. Wouldn't that obviously fuck things up?

The players in Umineko do not enter the game. The human Erika and the player Erika are two different but related beings, and if the human Erika kills someone then she must have her own motivation for it and not just do it because it would serve the purposes of the player Erika.

Okay, but, she cannot be the culprit since she wasn't in the game before episode 5.

Doesn't that violate a Knox?

Actually, it was not the human Erika that killed those people.

As I thought, my memory is faulty.

Stupid Atlas translation.

So, Meta Erika it is?

Or am I truely mistaken?

Hm.

I always read that as "I won't play around anymore, you better be ready!".

Player Erika did not at the time know who the culprit was. She might even think that it was human Erika. At best she can cause the Culprit piece, which already has its own motivations for killing people, make its move and kill Battler's pieces, but that piece can only kill people because the story allows it.

But really, if Umineko is a game fought between the players then there's nothing rude about killing your opponents pieces. Being an asshole about is rude of course, but Beatrice was like that too. Trying to beat Battler by causing a logic error was dirty OTOH, but Erika is supposed to be dirty.

Fighting IS about winning, not about who's the most noble.
