I really enjoyed that many short stories, it was much better than long one. The were the boy spots something on the other building and then that thing starts to watch him is fucking good.

Also, didn't something like that happen to Taira no Kiyomori, with the souls of all the people he killed manifested as unblinking ghostly heads? Except instead of getting scared, he just sighed in annoyance and stared back at the skulls until they vanished.
