I've never played any Touhou game. So /jp/, what's the best game to start with?

>> No.513017

EoSD, of course.

>> No.513015

PCB

>> No.513022

Do what I did and start with EoSD. The only way.

Any that have h-scenes in them.

>> No.513024

PCB Probably, although a lot of people say IN for some reason.

>> No.513027

Chronological order starting from EoSD.

>> No.513031

>>513009

PCB, definitely. Reasons:

1. Feels very modern, EoSD can feel a bit dated at times.
2. Doesn't contain any newbie-aggravating mechanics like the later ones often have (like IN's phantom meter).
3. Doesn't force you into bad habits, like waiting until you get hit in order to bomb (IN).
4. Well, just generally, its pretty damn awesome.

>> No.513036

EoSD if you can deal with having an invisible hitbox. Otherwise, go for PCB.

>> No.513038

PCB

>> No.513042

All of them.

>> No.513045

IN, easier than PCB and has a lot of cool stuff to unlock like the last words.

>> No.513054

How do I get good at Touhou? I was able to beat Normal using 3 continues with Marisa B. And I have been replaying it but I always have to use at least a continue at meiling and stage 4

>> No.513052

OP here.

Downloading EoSD and PCB, both of them look pretty awesome. Looking at the screenshots I don't think EoSD looks soo dated, but if that's the casi I'd play Perfect Cherry Blossom. Also downloading IaMP.

No, only beating it without continues. Don't get the good end otherwise.

>> No.513092

Started 11eyes right now, Chaos;Head after that and Chaos Region at the end.
I'm still a little wary toward Tsuyokiss 2, I loved the first one but I don't like the fact that they changed the writer, I'm going to wait for more feedbacks.

Meiling is pretty easy, no offense. Just play practice mode until you breeze through that section.

Reimu A may be a better choice for trying to 1 cc the game.

You do not rape Flandre. Flandre rapes YOU!

>> No.513105

Depends on your priorities. EoSD if you want to get great at the games; IN if you mostly want to see the characters in action and get a relatively easy introduction to the series; PCB for a better balance between the two.

I'm not sure where to put MoF: the mechanics are straightforward and the game is a moderate challenge, but it encourages almost too much bombing and the lack of unique player spellcards really makes it "feel" less polished. Also, Zombie Miko Reimu. I don't recommend it as a first game because EoSD is a better gameplay-focused intro, and PCB or IN is a better style-focused intro.

So what's the deal with IN's time orbs? Do I have to get the max amount stated on the right side of the screen in order to only have the time advance by a half hour? I can barely get half that amount, and I usually end up getting a game over right after I beat Reisen.

>> No.513120

>>513113
Don't worry too much about time orbs unless you're doing high score runs.

People say IN because its easy modo is much easier than the others and it gives you 5 years to counter-bomb. PCB is probably the best starting point in terms of mechanics, but difficulty wise it’s a bit harsh.

>>513053
Treat it like an arcade game and never continue. Naturally, you’ll get a better feel for your progression, you’ll be more willing to try new things (dodging vertically and streaming), and you will also learn faster because of the repetition of previous sections and adrenaline from the risk of dying.

Yes. Also, max amount is needed to face Last Spells.

Although I'm fairly sure you can get the good end without getting max orbs on any level.

But I would like to at least get to Kaguya. It's a bit anticlimactic to beat Reisen and then Reimu decides to go home.

Kaguya's spellcards are weird, too. Apparently you have to let them time out, or you'll get a time penalty?

>> No.513140

When we are at it with what should i play touhou games? keyboard or controller or stick?

>> No.513144

Only Kaguya's Last Spells, which compared to her others are harder than diamond.

They don't really matter, if you can get to them you get the good end anyway.

It's more important to use an input method you're familiar with; if you can use both keyboard and gamepad though, it's made for keyboard and it's better for the very precise movements you'll be making.

>> No.513222

I vote for EoSD, yes, it may not be as flashy as PCB, which is why it's the best place to start. Also, Odenpa, Chinese Tea, Locked Girl, these songs are everywhere in the Touhou Music scene.

And naturally Patchy, Cirno, and China, let alone Remi, Flan, the Dog, and of course DAI YOUSEI should be reason enough.

Oh, and Rumia too.
