Reimu seems quit irreverent. Sanae, on the other hand, holds a very close bond with the goddesses of the shrine.

Reimu misunderstands simple things from the outside world. Sanae IS from the outside world.

Reimu doesn't seem eager to do anything. Hunt youkai because it'll be a bigger pain in the ass if you don't. Sanae seems overeager in doing the job on a Gensokyan Shrine Maiden, which comes to the next point...

Reimu's got a fuckton of experience with the whole telling-youkai-to-piss-off thing. Sanae has only just begun to do youkai hunting.

They both have the tendency to say, "What are you talking about" and just attacking though, but that's because they're playable characters.

I don't know, from her dialogue, she's just funny like that. It's like she doesn't understand anything about what's happening, but Kanako said to hunt them, so she does, with great gusto.

I also don't seem to view "youkai extermination" as being very serious anymore, it just seems like telling them to go home and stop bothering people. Maybe she just likes danmaku. Maybe she just likes winning. I just don't think she's being evil or anything. At least, that's how I see it.

If you've read any of UFO or Soku's dialogue you would realize she has plenty of quirks that make an interesting character.

The same can't be said of other popular characters such as Cirno who only has idiocy going for her.
