Explain /tg/ to me. A lot of /jp/sies seem to like it, but I just can't imagine /jp/ anons going outside and playing dungeons & drugons or whatever with other neckbeards, since everyone here is a social retard. So why does /tg/ and /jp/ share so many posters?

You, sir, have a misconception. This misconception is that anyone on /tg/ actually plays these games.

They do not.

All the denizens of /tg/ do all day is sit around and talk about playing these games. Oh sure, they doubtless have all the manuals and sourcebooks. Hell, some time in the past (probably high school where you are forced into contact with people) one or two of them might have even played a game. But those are the days of the past. A fa/tg/uy is much like a /jp/sey, just with RPGs instead of Touhou.

I'm currently in two Mutants and Masterminds games and a Dark Heresy game, and am currently planning a Wraith: The Oblivion game, an Unknown Armies game, and a Mutants and Masterminds game of my own.

AND I browse /tg/.

Way to generalize, bro.

Generalizations and board identity are very important on 4chan.
You need to understand this.

Also, F/SN is a shitty DnD game with an erotic plot.

Oh right, I forgot. It's the Internet, we DO need to generalize.

My mistake.

>> No.5108546

It's true.
I have a full Lizardman army, Kroxogors and a Stegadon and everything. And the start of a great Orc/Goblic army. I had a friend years ago who played Wood Elves (back when they were still haxx). He would dump all his points in a Treeman and Orion the Hunter, a couple eagles, and murder me every time.
I don't think I'll ever play Warhammer again.

>> No.5108566

Everyone in /jp/ has played D&D or Magic at some point.

Fact.

>> No.5108562

>>5108526

It's probably closer to Mage than D&D.

>> No.5108567

Personally, I dislike people who go to other boards. It seems like someone who cannot make up their mind, or someone who has too many hobbies for their own good, and will not be particularly well versed in any one hobby. Someone who goes to /jp/ but also 10 other boards probably does not play touhou, or read any VNs, except perhaps Umineko.

>> No.5108578

Because they're both full of sad people poor at social contact who spend all their time dreaming of fantasy worlds.

Online games are to RPGs as 1-800-HOT-TEENS hotlines are to sex.

You do realize most people have more than one hobby, right?

Some people are experts in more than one.

>> No.5108595

>>5108584

Not really. RPGs don't have to be as physically oriented as sex is. Get Skype and a few good friends, and they might as well be in the room with you.

IRC games, yeah, those might be a bit different. Never played over IRC or just text only chat, though.

True otaku watch animu, play vidya, read VNs, collects figures and mechs, plays tabletop games, train spot, cosplay, loves idols and seiyuu, knows how to draw, likes cakes, knows a lot about computers, reads literature, and is well versed in the sciences. Unless you're not at least eight of the aformentioned, you're not a true otaku.

And for some reason, being a hikki and NEET doesn't make you one.

>> No.5108603

But some boards aren't meant to be browsed for hours like /ck/ or /fit/ where I can hardly see doing nothing but browsing them all day long.

>> No.5108623

Mostly because to be an Otaku, you need obsessions.

A NEET or a shut in is more likely to have obsessions, but one without obsessions is possible.

They're both boards centered around concept, driven by exemplary caricatures of entertaining individuals or groups. /jp/ and /tg/ (and /co/) are the only boards that regularly produce original content of any kind. /jp/ makes Maid and crafts theories for Gensokyo inhabitants; /tg/ makes Crazy Hassan, Noh, Cultist, Fucklaw, et'cetra. They are focused on the contribution to the whole community instead of fame of the individual.

/tg/ and its 1d4chan produces vast amount of original content that eventually becomes known even outside of 4chan. Relic's OST for DoW2 even have a remix dubbed "the grimdark remix".

/jp/ gets viral marketed by KS devs
