I thought we all agreed that the higher dimensional beings are in a different league than the mere 3-dimensional beings. For instance, Goku could destroy planets with his finger tips and travel faster than the speed of light, but since The Flash has the ability to 'dick' around with the spacetime continuum Goku doesn't stand a chance against him. Hyper-dimensional beings such as Tenchi Muyo, TTGL, and The Flash are not bound by the same rules as most characters in fiction. Their powers include (but are not limited to) manipulating probability, altering fate, traveling through time, breaking the laws of quantum physics, and surpassing even the Gods of their respective universes.

I argue Yukari's powers put her in the same league as the aforementioned hyper dimensional beings. Except in Yukari's case her powers are not limited by reality. As mentioned in PMiSS, her manipulation of boundaries include the boundaries of abstract phenomena such as illusions/fantasies, paintings, dreams, the fictional and the actual.

Yuka is just a flower youkai with brute strength and vulgar spiritual energy. Though with youkai like Remilia and Suika, that alone does not amount to much in a fight. It's no wonder why Reimu was able to best Yuka.

Yukari is the only youkai that's showing signs of aging [2]. Shiki gets to decide her fate, so it's no surprise Yukari would have some fear towards her. Also, as seen in SSiB Yukari is very apathetic/sarcastic when it comes to "who's the strongest." For example, she admitted defeat to one of the moonbitches with a smirk on her face all the while coordinating a 3 party invasion of the moon that at the time was going according to her plan.

It's just the very nature of the idea of unlimited power is very difficult to express in an interesting manner. Limits are needed to make interactions more interesting. Why would anybody prefer Yuka over Yuka 2.0 (a.k.a Yukari). I didn't really care about Touhou powerlevels until I read about Yukari. She's truthfully a one-of-a-kind character. When I read her PMiSS article for the first time it was the first time I was proud of ZUN as a writer. I grew up with powerlevel debates and never in my wildest imagination would I have thought I'd see a character like Yukari. We've already seen characters in various fiction that could manipulate flowers and had a calm personality (Kurama to name a few). Yuka is been there done that. But Yukari was truthfully unique both in concept and design.

Is it possible for any Touhou to not have a limit on there power? I mean it's possible that most of these characters have reached the point of infinity when it comes to their powers, just for some reason or another they can't unlock their full potential. Can Suigin explain why his beloved Shinki, Alice, and Yuka lost in a (non-spellcard) duel against Reimu in her youth? Let me remind you this was before Reimu learned how to fly. Apparently your beloved Shinki is a weak goddess. Her ability to create things must be very limited. Since she had a god hax she had no reason to try to spare Reimu. I'm not seeing any connection between Shinki and the ultimate magic. On multiple occasions Shinki cites her goddess hax and never mentions any grimoires.

Nor is there any mentioning of a relationship between Alice and Shinki. Even the claim that Alice was raised and/or created by Shinki is just fan speculation. There's also no mentioning of Alice dropping her grimoire during her fight with Reimu. I should note Suigin cited a change in her sprite as "evidence."
