It is limited, but in a far better way than most F2P MMOs. It's not a total crippling halt, nor is it "pay to win", and you can permanently buy content piece-by-piece. You can even gather enough points in-game to buy enough content to get you to level cap in a timely manner, though it does involve some tedium prior with multiple alts.

It is made by the same company and uses pretty much the same engine. Thats about all they have in common though. I never was a fan of LoTRO nor the archetype of MMORPGs it represents, but go and figure. Since its now free to play and all its not hard to give it a spin, youll either get hooked or drop it after 5 minutes.

DDO is like another EQ ripoff with better gameplay than others, yet still no go. To begin describing why I regret paying for it, DDO was never faithful to the original D&D, neither did I like Eberron, ever.

Another issue was paying for this shit when they didn't even update the game properly, shit patches, weak balance...this has been ¨fixed¨ in current version.

It's not really better than LotRO. I personally don't like LotRO, but...they're different games? Why are you comparing them? At least you can play DDO without paying.

Also, DDO is in no way limited when compared to other generic MMOs, specially not in current state of the game, where they even gift you points to buy content.

You can catch a variety of dolls and little girls as pets in Monster Forest, though the developers know they're desirable pets and they're all high level, guarded by L1029102910 elites, or tagged with the highest capture difficulty rating.

A bunch of /jp/ people will be starting up in OB on the 19th. I don't think there any requirements to jump into the OB other than signing up and downloading.

The mimimum you would need to watering plants/feeding animals would be once per day. Heck, you could even hire a gardener to do all that for you, but the gardener requires cash sadly.

It's pretty interesting once you get beyond the wall of buttons and text that makes up the interface. There are hundreds of monsters, hundreds of skills, a pretty huge amount of monster traits, you can breed them, transfer traits, evolve them, and do all sorts of stuff with them. Then there's the farms, some sort of wacky guild export war, scheduled pvp treasure hunts, a rare monster arena, and just a whole damn lot of stuff to do. Oh, and, without exaggeration, hundreds upon hundreds of items in the character clothing shop. I've never seen a game with remotely as many items, the character faces are pretty disturbing though, so this is a mixed blessing.

And the best part is the game can almost play itself if you want it to. So you can do nothing while you do nothing.

Playing Atlantica pretty heavily right now, occasionally playing FEZ (getting tired of Netz being total shit though), still raid with my WoW guild even though I've been bored and wanted to quit for months (they don't want to have to replace me and I'm a nice guy so I'm sticking around until they complete their progression).

I played Aion for a while, got suckered in for world pvp.

Quit when I had to grind pve shit quest for pvp gear, because magic resist was just plain out fucked every caster in the ass. The requirements to get a hot heart of magic were so ridiculous I don't even want to begin. I'll just say that I devoted a month JUST to gather the materials for it. Not to mention that the mechanic to craft it relied on RNG.

since the game is old it just doesn't have lag adjustment like fps games do now. (think of cs1.6 if you played it)
after a while I don't have problems hitting people even with an archer because I've memorized the lag factor for pretty much every person I fight.
as for PvE vs PvP either can be fun, but I can never consider a standard (click target system) pve game good unless it has at the very least as much diversity of FF11 (not much, debuff/buff classes, healers, dps, tankers, support, etc) while being balanced enough that one class doesn't dominate. Unfortunately that knocks out 90% of the games that are just DPS fests. I liked the way Luna's class system worked, but the game itself was pretty meh.

I applied for TERA Beta testing. I like how the game is shaping up. The game trailers are super corny though.
