Nope it is superior. Hepburn (the "normal" romanization that most people use) is meant to help people sound out the words. Nihonsiki is meant to actually make sense. Check this out:

放つ -> -masu form is 放ちます
Hepburn-shiki: "HIKARI hanatsu SHOUNEN NO HAATO" -> "hanachimasu
Nihonsiki: "hanatu" -> "hanatimasu"

WHOA CHECK THAT OUT now you actually have a verb stem, "hanat", like in most other languages, instead of some retarded exception about "t" magically turning into "ch"

We don't write French or German using English phonics, why should we write Japanese using English phonics? Because Japan never developed their own spelling to use as a historical example to not violate, you say? Um... well, that's kind of a good reason. But still! Make a romanization system that makes sense to Japanese people (i.e. is similar to kana), instead of one that makes sense to English people. You won't regret it!

Sure, for serious learners. I guess what I meant is, for example, why do English newspapers still write "Tokyo" for 東京, and not "Toukyou"? It just leads to people pronouncing stuff wrong. In that example obviously there's no difference between Hepburn and Nihonsiki, but I think with the higher level of japanese (lol) used in /jp/ compared to general publications, the difference can come into play. People learning or who are masters still need to communicate with people who don't know shit. And who knows, in some cases those people who don't know shit may eventually take it upon themselves to learn something, at which point their having been talked to using Nihonsiki will, I think, have made a difference in the pace of their learning. I mean check out how much ro-mazi is used on /jp/ (hint: a lot). That alone should show that being careful about ro-mazi usage is not a useless proposal. If you really think it's useless, try typing every Japanese word you use on /jp/ in kana from now on and see how many people get butthurt.
