Just tried last night and failed miserably on normal. It's not that I ever thought the danmaku was hard, I had a lot of hitbox surprises.
I'm pretty sure those middle-sized balls have a 1:1 hitbox-sprite ratio, I lost my last 3 lives at Remilia trying to edge around those things.

Try to play until you can 3CC the game, then practice stage 4,5 and mostly 6 until you can dodge most of it. If you get a good run then, you shoul be able to beat Remi with 3 lives left.

Tried a few runs, working on Lunatic. I can make it to Remi pretty reliably at this point, but I always choke and eat a few stupid deaths despite being able to do it in practice with relative ease. It's mostly the first couple of cards, though, so I think if I keep working on stages three and five I should clear up enough deaths and bombs to make up for it. I just hope Scarlet Gensokyo doesn't prove too much for me.

Memorizing it isn't hard. The hard part is moving around with stops. If it was just a rotating spray that you just had to keep moving around, I'd have no problems. But when I need to stop also I tend to go too far or too short.

It's not so much that, but that I have keyboard groupings that mean I can't shoot and dodge right down at the same time, which keeps messing me up. I keep trying to go round but somehow end up messing the timing around the 9 - 10 o'clock mark most of the time though.

I actually completely gave up memorizing it. After a billion one attempts I found out the easiest way to do it was to shotgun, back off, dodge through a wave or two of the spray and bomb. By the time Master Spark wears off, the pattern pauses long enough to finish before having to dodge any more.
