Oblivious about japanese culture fag here.

What music do the japanese listen to? What kind of songs could i expect to listen if i pick up a japanese radio station? What's their musical culture?

Do they even care about anime op/ed songs? If so, why do they have the habit of creating various op/ed for the same anime? Or are those songs not created specially for the anime in question?

They do not listen to anime music, sorry.

Turn on MTV. That's pretty much what they listen to, except throw in a few in the Japanese language and you've got yourself the answer.

Well, it depends on what you mean by anime music. If you just mean OP and ED, then yes, they do listen to some. The OP and ED are basically advertisements for album releases and corporations like Sony sponsor the show for that reason. Take the Bleach OP/EDs for example. They're all pretty damn mainstream. Though if you take something like Lucky Star, the albums may do well on the Oricon charts due to fan support, but, in general, it isn't very well known.

This is how I understand it so take it with a grain of salt~ ( ̄3 ̄)
