I actually got introduced to Touhou through Hisoutensoku. A guy I knew browsed /jp/, and told me to come play it with him. A year later and here we are

My first exposure to touhou was probably "Marisa stole the precious thing" and my feelings on it were "wtf this is horrible". Probably a year later I tried the actual games and realized they were actually interesting, if still beyond my skill level (I at least made it to Youmu on normal without continues recently, maybe I'll beat PCB this month!)

I came across some of the characters, Alice and Suika for one, on Gelbooru and liked their character designs. I don't know when I realized they were part of the Touhou games, somewhere along the way on /a/ I guess.

Still to this day, the character designs are the only thing of Touhou that interests me (never played any of the games and don't intend to).

I don't remember, I was just fucking around /tg/ when some fag who kept posting pictures of little anime girls told me that there is a crazy hard shmup game called Touhou.
Being a hardcore gamer who plays hardcore games for hardcore gamers such as myself, I decided to try it out. I liked it but I didn't understand the moonrunes, so I searched for translations. I found them on touhouwiki, and ended up reading doujins there too. Then I learned that /jp/ is the 4chan board of Touhou.

The first Touhou-related things I saw were Marisa Stole the Precious Thing and Cruel Sisters, but I had no idea they were about Touhou. I thought IOSYS was just another cutesy Japanese web band or something. I don't remember what got me to make the leap from that to the games. Now I prefer the games to IOSYS by a long shot. Progress.

Little blue girl was being referenced here and there then I was in a VN thread on /a/ and somebody asked about more action-oriented Japanese games. EoSD was suggested along with a picture of little blue girl and I said oh shit, it's that little blue girl. Then I played EoSD like all day for two or three days. Then because I am one of those OCremix-type fags I searched for remixes of EoSD OST since I noticed the music was really good. Of course among other things I found IOSYS. And I still like IOSYS to this day, so fuck you. The end.

My first encounter with touhou was probably a flash animation of Sakuya being abused and teased by SDM characters.

I thought it was weird and didn't gave it much attention. I watched a few seconds of other flash animations (since I was frequenting /f/ a lot at the time) now and then but never got interest. Those weren't IOSYS shit though.

After a couple of months I saw that Chirumiru Genki Cirno flash and decided "Ok, I'll google this shit to find what's that about" Then I discovered touhouwiki and after reading all character profiles and games plot I was fascinated by it, so I downloaded some of the games after a quick search on google again and was officially introduced to the touhou universe.

At first, I saw all of the IOSYS videos, I think I saw Overdrive first. (So it'd be Reisen, I suppose.) Then, I started to notice this one guy on youtube(Luizprower) mentioning, alot. Touhou. So, I eventually went and looked that up, and about a week later, to my shock. I found a related video linking to IOSYS, and eventually started to play the games, my first was(feel free to shoot me.) Phantasmagoria of flower view.
