Does Touhou exist in Touhou?

That is, in the Touhou universe, does Touhou exist in the outside world? Was Sanae, being an otaku, a Touhou fan before she came to Gensokyo? Does Yukari tell stories to ZUN, who then adapts them into his games?

That's my guess. You don't really ever see any of them using a computer outside of 4koma or something. The things that I remember is Rinnosuke's Gameboy that would bring about doom for any number of worlds, the kappa's giant robot, and Hatate's camera phone...although she probably has a computer and just uses Google to write her newspaper.
