Everybody's using the filter extension by now, but I thought this might be a decent time to mention the 4watch extension, for anybody who isn't using that as well. I only found out about it recently, myself, despite being here almost every day.

4watch lets you hide and report a thread with a single click, and, better, threads others have flagged as spam are hidden for other users with 4watch installed. If some bros catch a thread before you do, you never even have to bother filtering it. Let's all do our part to help meido-chan keep our board clean!

That's pretty clever, but it seems to me that the potential for abuse (read: people hiding threads they don't like that aren't spam) would prevent the auto-hide thing from being of any use if a large number of people use it.

That worried me at first, too, but who would bother? It's not like there's any way to respond to someone who chooses to troll that way. Most people would never even notice anything had happened. It defeats the whole purpose of trolling.

I don't know for sure, but I assume there's some sort of threshold for how many users have to flag a thread before it it auto-hides for everyone. I doubt it would be a problem either way, though.

I think I've seen bot threads outnumber real threads at least one or twice on some of the slower boards. At a certain point, it's not worth putting up with that shit.

Naturally I use the greasemonkey filter as well, as we all have done since the times of old, but I don't really think it's enough anymore.
