btw someone with experience with VM software Virtual PC? I used it to try out if I could play windows eroge under a Linux host system in a comfortable way, and while everything works with XP as guest OS (plus guest additions) I just cannot get the VM to play any kind of graphics application in full screen mode. So if I start some eroge it shows the original resolution centered and the rest is replaced by black borders. Same goes e.g. for windows screensavers.

Viral marketing. Wasn't on /g/ for quite a time but if this topic comes up I will always show up and show how hipster you fags are being for being a fortune for some SSD when you could just buy some RAID setup with lots of GB

>> No.4945090

I suggest you lurk the internet more or something if you're laughing at SSD's. Even a small 40GB one for your OS alone and misc programs gives you an amazing speed increase.

>> No.4945115

>>4945090
Facepalm. Everything is about perfomance / cost ratio and SSD fail completely. Don't forget, only the read performance is better so you can use those overpriced shitwares only in limited scenarios.

RAID setups are much more superior in every way for much less bucks and a completely superior GB per buck ratio while being more versatile.

SSD = hipster shit

Not trolling but right now it's just a hippi thing. If the first 250GB SSD with good speeds become available for say under 150 USD you may come back and market them on the internets

>> No.4945156

RAID, even using the Win7 utility, gives some decent speeds, trust me I'd know. I've made plenty of rigs for friends with various setups, RAID 0 F3's, RAID 0 Caviar Blacks, whatever. A SSD, whilst expensive, has always given superior performance be it loading times, read/write times or simply boot times. True, you get more out of a RAID setup, especially since SSD's are relatively small currently but that's not the reason I purchased mine, I got mine for increased loading times and that's all, if I wanted storage space I can just use my RAID 0 WD CB 6GB/s drives. I'm sorry I can afford something you can't, Anonymous. I didn't know that makes a hipster faggot though, I guess I'll go buy myself an iPad now.

Most VM software doesn't have display scaling like that because it's technically difficult to emulate or some shit. I believe VMWare has an option for display scaling you can turn on, I don't know for certain though since I use VirtualBox.

For the same amount of money you can either upgrade your PC to the top of the line CPU, buy the BEST GPU or buy a bigger monitor.

>> No.4945219

>>4945189
I remember I could do that before on a windows host system but yes it wasn't VirtualPC but a pirated VMware version so I assumed every VM would be able to that, especially because of the guest addition stuff.

>> No.4945225

>>4945197

What's that got to do with the argument? If I want my setup to be fast then that's my decision. I enjoy the increased loading times on various programs/games. If you want to post HURR DURR SSD IS SHIT EPIK FAIL XDDDD on the internet then that's your decision. Good day sir.

Don't take it personally but I always react allergic to the latest hippi stuff that costs half a fortune because most the fags bought it with their daddy's money, same goes for the fags with their uber latest iteration of the newest 800USD GFX

I have no need to upgrade my CPU, my computer is a gaming rig, I don't use it for video encoding or whatever so there's absolutely no difference between using that new Intel £800 CPU and using a 955 OC'd to 3.8GHz.

I have no need to get a new GPU. My FPS is perfectly fine at the minute and if I really needed to upgrade I'd just buy another 5850, OC it to 5870 speeds (and save £100) and then crossfire them with x16 x16.

I have no need for a bigger monitor. A 22" monitor running at 1920x1200 with a 2ms response time is perfect for me. Spending extra money gives me nothing but a monitor taking up more desk room.
