I don't even really know why I buy all this shit, I don't really consider myself an audiophile, and I'm can easily live with 192kbps if I have to.

Grado SR-80
Koss PortaPro (Recabled)
Sennheiser HD595
Sennheiseer PX100
AKG K701 (K-ON invented these, you know)
Beyerdynamic DT 770
Audio Technica AD-1000
Alessandro MS-1
Alessandro MS-2

"Caffeine" Penguin Amp
Mini3
Basso D2+
Emmeline SR-71A
Headroom Micro DAC
Beta22 (I didn't build it, but I might try to build one at some point)

Xonar ST

Needless to say, I don't have any figures.

Grado SR80's as starters, planning on making the jump to some AKG K702's then STAX SRS3050 when I get some more cash. Sennheiser HD650 is quite good too, and I would go for them over the K702's only that I don't like how Sennheisers look.

A generic Plantronics headset that I'm pretty content about. However, I've had it for a decent amount of time and the soft bit against my ears is starting to rip a bit.

I've been thinking of getting a Sennheiser headset, but I'd have to get a decent sound card as well and I'm a bit annoyed by having to fork over extra cash on top of the already not-so-cheap headset I had in mind.

Pic related, both headsets.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid. I own the HD595.
I've listened to both though, and even unmodded, there's really no way that the minor sound quality increase in the 595's are worth the massive cost increase over the 555s.

>>4907570 here, and really, I'm not much of a fan of Sennheiser. I've listened to both 595s and 555s, (I had already purchased the 595s by then because "Oh, I can TASTE the difference between the 595s and 555s!") and the increase to the 595s is minor at best, even without the whole foam thing. And the PX100s are nowhere near as good as the Portapros, despite having a similar price. It sounds like muddy shit.

My experience with Sennheiser is limited to only a few headphones, but every time, it really feels like you're paying more for the name than anything else.

Sennheiser HD280s are $60. They are built like fucking tanks and sound great. Everything else similar either falls apart in 3 months or is twice the price.

>> No.4908328

>>4908253
Being tough-build isn't really a factor for me, as long as it isn't completely flimsy.

I'm not much for closed headphones, so I've never tried the HD280, but if it's as nice as you say for $60, I'll give it a shot. I don't mind cable issues with PortaPros much because it's an easy fix, they're cheap, and it sounds way too good for the price.
