If you know chinese, you know how to write the various kanji and have memorized them. Now you just need to learn how they are read and sound and what are their meanings in japanese. It shouldn't be too hard.

But do you mean the traditional or simplified Chinese? Since all Kanji are old, traditional Chinese. The kana should not be a problem but the grammar may takes sometime to complete.

How easy would it be to pick up Japanese if all I know is English? I'm sick of waiting for VN's to be translated, I just need to know how to read it, not speak it.

If you only speak English then you're probably American, and if you're American then you're probably dumb. And fat. So it's impossible.

I'm assuming chinese to japanese would be on par with, say, someone who knows spanish trying to learn portuguese.
Very similar, but different rules / ways to write.

Nope. Japanese is actually very far from Chinese due to its agglutinative nature. It helps Japanese is really concise because it's so heavily context-based.

They simply borrowed a bucket load of words, roughly analogous to how English uses Greek and Latin to form new concepts.
