They're actually releasing an update to Miku called Append. I don't know if it's going to include english though.

As much as I'd like english to be an option for Miku, chances are they'd deem it as not in the spirit of Miku. The whole append update seems kind of iffy to begin with... I'm willing to bet many japanese song creators will think of the Append update as not Miku.

get ready for a lot more realistic sounding vocaloid tracks in the near future. there's a third-party developer making something called "performance modeling" technology that allows far better control over how the vocaloid voice sounds.

basically, the composer can sing the part they want the vocaloid to sing and the software will analyze dynamics, pitch slides, vibrato, breathiness, etc. and apply it to the vocaloid track.

if you've used vocaloid much, you know what a difference all that stuff makes in making it sound human. it's just unintuitive and time consuming to go through note-by-note and adjust all those things.
