Imperishable Night sucks a fucking cock.
This game is shit, plain and simple.

Oh, let's all beat the fourth stage boss and go to "Eientei"! Too bad Eientei isn't fucking fun, like the rest of this game. The entire thing is designed to anger and frustrate you. Oh, you get to play as a team! Wow, pardon me while I make the universal motion for a handjob. Playing as a team fucking sucked. What did it do, exactly? It let you SHOOT FAIRIES, something you were able to do the entire fucking game. Oh, also you looked gay.

There are some interesting shot types in the game, such as Marisa, Sakuya, and Youmu. But guess what? You can use them on like 2 levels total, and if you later on you unfocus and get hit ONCE, you never use them AGAIN since you are afraid of dying again. Wow, that's fun! I love games that demand I play perfectly or have no fun, because I'm a fucking jap who strives for absolute perfection in gaming otherwise I kill myself.

Imperishable Night may have been interesting or fun at one time, but the game is a worthless piece of shit in today's day and age. It's horribly flawed and full of punch-in-the-dick moments, much more so than it has moments that are just fun to play.

IN's gameplay is just horrible. Everything about it.

From about halfway through stage 3 and onwards, almost every non-boss bullet pattern is the exact same, which is doubly tedious because you can dodge it just by streaming.

Actually, it only benefits noobs like you, because the deathbombing in IN costs two bombs instead of one. IN is my favorite windows game, despite how easy it is.
The shot patterns resulting from the team up system are some of the most fun to play with in the series.

>> No.4856630

>>4856501

>ur a n00b hurr

Bombing with good timing against a boss does a bit of damage and buys you some time to get back into a good position. Bombing with bad timing (ie deathbombing) instantly ends the card/noncard because of how much damage it does, sparing the player from any actual effort. I don't see how the idea of conserving bombs is relevant in IN because, for one, they drop from enemies all the time, and for two, the game is easy anyway so there's no real danger of running out.

What? Deathbombs were in touhou since EoSD.
If you are talking about Last Words, deathbombs take two bombs to deal less damage in one hit than they would do if used one after another. The only reward happens when you have a single bomb, which is when you only waste one for the increased damage.

I felt the same way for a while, but I think SA pushed IN back into third place.

I thought one of INs strongest points was it's even difficulty curve. In EoSD, for example, the game jumps in difficulty at stage 4 and stage 5, but then the final stage 6 isn't that much worse than the one before it. Similar patterns occur in other TH games as well.

IN is much nicer about it, though. It has a bit of a jump in difficulty at stage four, but after that the difficulty curve stays mostly smooth until the end.

IN is a great game for new players getting used to the series. Players that started with PCB can right away get to play as the characters that challenged them before. The patterns are fairly simple, even if Marisa and possibly Eirin are unintuitive.
Eintei characters are boring. The music alright, mostly middle of the road as far as ZUN music goes, with a few exceptional ones and a few I could care less about hearing. That single characters didn't have a different focus/unfocused shot type was disappointing. Players that are used to Touhou can find more fun challenges in SA (with better music).
Last Words and Extra mode really, really are IN's redeeming features. Mokou is a fun and challenging battle that doesn't have just one way to win.
I'd like it if ZUN took another crack at the teamplay thing. It is interesting to have a mechanic that rewards specific uses of focus/unfocused, and it's fun to have a larger number of playable characters and shot types. SA does a good job of... something close to it.
Picture.

Weak/terrible stages. Too many patterns that are very slow, dense, and complex that you microtap your way through. Kaguya's fight sucks. Spell practice cheapens the main game + extra. Score system tends to punish unfocusing. Full of retarded powerlevels shit.

One day I'm going to do a psychology experiment to see WHY haters hate on the internet.

No really. We have a "Lets discuss X" clearly in the OP. Now if this irl and there's a store selling "X" most people who don't like "X" will steer clear away but on the internet people who don't like "X" will come to bitch and moan. No literally, they will see what they don't like come to the thread and bitch. Now instead of having a nice discussion, we'll either have fans of "X" trying to justify what they like and haters hating. What the fuck is the point? You don't like IN? What's telling us that in a thread specifically for IN going to do? Suddenly make me change my mind and agree with you? Suddenly stop all talk about anything you don't like? Dude. I agree with you a lot when it comes to a lot of things both on /a/ and /jp/ but yours right now is a dick move. I come to dump my Eintei folder and have a fun discussion and I see the first 30 or so posts full of people who already know they don't like IN and know that their rants won't stop others from liking it but still wanna because its a lot easier than making a thread about something they would like to enjoy.
