e-SIM-lock--report

>Japan on Friday agreed to end restrictions on mobile telephone users switching operators or using an overseas network by changing the SIM memory card, a report said.

>Japan's major mobile service carriers currently sell handsets that accept only their respective SIM cards.

>This means Japanese people travelling overseas cannot fit SIM cards of local carriers in their Japanese handsets and must instead use the international services of their Japanese carriers, or buy a new phone.

So, does this mean I'll be able to get a Japanese phone and use it here, soon?

>> No.4836787

No, because japanese phones don't use the same band as american phones.

You can already buy Japanese phones and use them overseas by getting a HyperSim.

Are Japanese phones better or something? Please don't tell me you'd want one just because it's Japanese

better is always subjective - they are however pretty different, teh current trend of western smartphones hasn't been big there becuase normal phones offer the same kind of functionality just in a different way.

and design wise they have a shit load more to choose from

What is better about them? Do they have more features?

Japan likes the iPhone, right? Is there a Japanese equivalent to it?

>> No.4837968

>>4837933
Well, the cellphone network in Japan is better so the phones have more features than they do here (though those features won't work overseas.) The phones also have better cameras and stuff too.

Take the iPhone and throw it back to yourself in 1995. That's how much better jap phones are.

Christ they even use them as substitute credit cards so you basically never need your wallet.

Have you guys even used a Japanese phone before? They have the worst interfaces hands down. I'd rather use a RAZR than a phone with a Japanese interface.

>> No.4841151

>>4841136
Oh god I remember a few years ago RAZRs were so popular until they all started breaking. Thank God I didn't have a phone during that craze

Japanese cellphones are 3-4 years ahead of North America's. I only want Kuroko's cellphone just because it looks cool and I've seen it before.

My phone is cheap, plays video, music, goes on the internet. Thats all I need.

I always wanted one of those thin, rectangular clamshell phones with a big screen - I love the look.
But it's not like I could afford a new phone anyway.

He lives in Croatia bro. They probably don't even have a phone network. That's why he only mentioned music and video and stuff.
