At least both manga seem to be hitting their end at this point. Lotus Eaters is like 60 chapters in which is above the cut-off point for both WaHH and FS and CDS is approaching there. It's actually Okuu's attack from 17.5 where a sun just keeps growing but after a while it hurts her, so you win by just running away(harder than it sounds with some characters like Murasa).
I think that it's a fitting attack for Okuu and it's pretty much an attack bigger than anything that can fully appear in a screen of any of the games. It's pretty much some dbz shit (but planets aren't made of TNT)
At least Okuu got her powers after the barrier, because with powers like that one has to wonder how humans even lost faith in such things....
imo Okuu isn't underwhelming in CDS... unlike Marisa and Satori, but at least Satori was implied to be actually pretty weak before.

I do genuinely think the recent chapters have had some stellar artwork and paneling, but if you were to actually show this panel to someone out of context it wouldn't look even half as cool as any other panel with no context because it's not really that good artwork-wise. There's a major clashing between the foreground and background, the shaking is incredibly weak for both main background objects, and the biggest eye-catching thing here is the tornado has brushstrokes and/or something spiraling within it rather than (what readers would assume is) the fucking Sun which somehow has barely any presence on the page despite being the focal point.

I was refering to the previous chapters but yeah... Pasive defensive magic makes sense and exist in a lot of settings but for some reason in Touhou people lose their mind when humans are tougher than they should... idk maybe people treat it like a dark fantasy low magic setting where (usually) magic tends to be active and anything that let's you survive lethal stuff tends to make you a monster and have terrible consequences.
I guess the mangas feel a low magic a lot of times, especially if you compare it to the games.
