I don't think you're supposed to equate their difficulties to their actual power. Also you're assuming the doujin writers play the game to a certain extent. They usually just make their own interpretations most of the time with what they know of the characters. Byakuren could possibly be interpreted as a much more powerful Marisa, a move-stealer with magic and power up the ass who uses buffs and brute forces through most things.
