So who're the most powerful characters in Touhou? I've got this tier list, but it does not include Mountain of Faith characters, so...

Yeah. I think it's Suika. She canonically defeated Reimu, after all.

You just answered your own question.

>> No.480440

Suika, Aya agreed.

>> No.480450

Reimu is always the strongest. canonically defeated Reimu? There's a ton of endings for that fighting game, so what's canon?

I dont understand why Youmu isn't higher up though. You'd think Mach fucking 70 with a sword would do something.

>> No.480457

Yukari, she could probably dissolve the border between the Earth and space or something if she wanted to.

>>480450

Suika's ending is canon; Zun agreed.

Where does it say that?

>> No.480469

Suika only defeated Reimu because of spell card rules. However, since Suika can throw mountains, she's probably physically stronger than any other character. But Reimu has her supreme god hax, Yukari has her border hax, and EX Keine has her CAVED hax. All three of them are pretty much omnipotent if they don't have spell card rules holding them back.

>> No.480487

>>480469

Suika can manipulate density. Hell, most of the characters have Godhax. The more unorthodox your abilities are, the more powerful the character themselves are.

>> No.480498

>>480487

Doesn't get much more unorthodox than manipulating density.

And then I remembered fucking Keine.

The ending in which Suika beats Reimu is actually the canonical ending. Reimu's endings are the canonical ones in the other games, but even armpit mikos are no match for ZUN's self-insertion character.

From Wikipedia article "Christianity in Japan":

The Roman Catholic missionary activities in Japan began in 1549, exclusively performed by Portuguese-sponsored Jesuits and Spanish-sponsored mendicant orders, such as the Franciscans and Dominicans. Francisco Xavier (a Catholic Saint),[7][8] Cosme de Torres (a Jesuit priest), and Father John Fernandez were the first, who arrived in Kagoshima with hopes to bring Christianity and Catholicism to Japan. Catholicism was subsequently repressed in several parts of the country and ceased to exist publicly in the 17th century. Drawn from the oral histories of Japanese Catholic communities, Shusaku Endo's acclaimed historical novel "Silence" provides detailed fictionalised accounts of the persecution of Christian communities and the suppression of the Church.

After Japan was reopened to foreign interaction in 1853, many Christian clergymen were sent from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox Churches, though proselytism was still banned.

After the Meiji restoration in 1871, freedom of religion was introduced giving all Christian communities the right to legal existence and preaching. Since World War II the number of Japanese Christians had been stagnant. [9]

So before Gensokyo was cut off from the outside world, those living their could have been exposed to the ideas of Christianity.

From Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, except from Aya's interview with Reimu:

Aya: You can't expect me to write an article of your heroic tale told while in that state.

Reimu: The herioc tale is true, though.

Aya: What about the herioc tales before this one? The eternal night and the crimson mist and such and such.

Reimu: All true.

Aya: That's hard to believe. Really, unless I get some evidence, it's too risky for me to write an article about it.

Reimu: Then why not get some? I'm pretty sure you know who to ask.
