Hello guys. I am currently living in Japan for work reasons (just arrived, staying for a year). I have several people coming to visit me, and they're all about the otaku culture. It goes without saying that they expect me to take them around Akihabara.

This would not be a problem, except they want to go to one of those maid cafes. I've never even tried to go to one of those. I have no idea how they even work. I know you have to pay to get in and pay again for food inside, but that's it. I dunno if you're expected to behave in a certain way, if taking pictures is allowed, if you need to pay the maids themselves, or even if those places allow girls inside (my friends are all girls). So is anyone here familiar with them? Is there a protocol to follow there? Which one is the most foreigner-friendly? Any advice would be appreciated.

visit a Trap cafe

No tips in Japan. But yeah pictures cost extra. Expect about 5000 yen per person if you're not going to eat much. It can easily exceed that though.

>Is there a protocol
You are gaijin, you are immune to all rules
>Which one is the most foreigner-friendly
They'll all take you, akiba is a tourist spot
>Any advice would be appreciated
/trv/ would be to the right

Anything goes. You can spank them on your way out, instead of tipping.

>> No.4717911

They will accept girls and gaijin. However even if you're a gaijin. You have to follow the general rules you can see on a board at the entrance : No taking pics of maids or food (unless you pay for it and they will take out their own camera), no touching, no asking for personal information on the maids, no asking them when they finish working, etc...

In short, they are not prostitutes. They are only waitresses in maid outfit paid to act cute and call you master.

I can understand no pics of the girls but no pics of food?

Yes, you can't take a pic of the food they serve unless you pay for it. They will take out their own camera, take the pic and give it to you after you paid. That's how it is. They want to make money on everything they can.

Why the hell do you think they wouldn't allow girls inside? What the fuck?

Yeah, get out of /jp/. If you feel like waving your dick and bragging about how great you are, go back to /b/ and do it there.

If you don't speak any Japanese, the maid at the door will try and find a english speaking maid for you. If you're lucky to get one that can kinda speak it, she'll explain the house rules to you.

In general though, no touching, no asking personal questions, no photos. If you're not sure of what you can and can't do, always ask. The maids will try their best to answer, which can be quite cute when they try and speak english.

do these exist. I'm not gay but I'd rather see good looking guys dressed as maids because it's a rarity.

Yes they do. Most of the 'maids' are quite noticably male, but you get a gem here and there.

Now this is a beta male if I'd ever heard one.
Yes, they allow girls inside.

Do not be afraid of their voices. It can be quite shocking at first.

What a coincidence, all of my friends are girls too.

If only they were real.
