I don't find games as immersive as VNs. Even when a VN protag has a really strong personality, after I spend enough time in their headspace and looking through their eyes, I feel like I'm not making decisions for them, I'm making decisions AS them.
Video games don't get there anywhere near as often for me. I never feel like I am Kiryuu Kazuma. I'm just a voice in his head that helps him beat people up and get laid. That can be fun too, but it's not as deep an experience for me as getting immersed in a VN.

One thing I do really like about games is that the heroines are, in a sense, your "toys".
When a game lets you rotate the camera and you twist it under the skirt of the girl you're playing as, and she tries to tug it down so you can't see her panties, but you're the player and she has to do everything you say so she has to just stand there and let you ogle her? I love that shit.
It's the ultimate power fantasy. You have total, absolute control over her, like she's your marionette.
Did you know that Capcom made a version of Biohazard for the DS that's almost exactly the same as the original, but anytime that Jill's ass is on the touchscreen you can spank it to make her yelp? That's what I want every video game to be like.

I played a VN recently, well like three years ago recently, and in the omake the girls talk to you and stuff and you can talk back but it was purely through dialogue choices rather than the protagonist speaking and voicing his thoughts. It was quite nice and immersive. Couldn't find a tag for whatever you'd call this though.

I'm not a big fan of silent protagonists. Most of the time it ends up being a "What's that Lassie?" situation where other characters translate everything they say.
I don't like the "speaks only in choices" method either. The option I want to say is always missing. If you're interested in it, you should check out Western RPGs as it's considered standard for those.

I think video games are at their most immersive when the dialogue is reactive rather than scripted.
For example, in Mahjong Dream Club, the characters talk with you about what's going on at the table.

Because everything they say is related to what you as the player are doing, it does really feel like they're talking to you.
At that point though it's something different from VNs entirely, and it doesn't really make sense to compare them.

Finished 美少女万華鏡異聞 雪おんな.
It has that 美少女万華鏡味 but sadly it is definitely much lighter compared to the mainline series. Less hardcore, less selective; if you know what I mean. I love the series so I hope they bring it back closer to their origins.
Presentation = good.
Ero = good but could have been even better.

Finished my nukislop. The sprites are shit, but most of the CGs have solid art which is the only thing that matters here. Pretty standard idol 調教 premise which I'm totally cool with. The main reason I picked it was because of pic related. Fairly rare instance of an actual ganguro girl design that wasn't too disgusting for me. Plus, I love 調教 causing a chick to turn into a 黒ギャル. I'm glad I was too much of a retard to comprehend what the OP was depicting. Anyways aside from the twist, the main draw of the game is drama obviously. There's several problems with this in my view. Takayuki is literally the most ヘタレ protagonist I've ever dealt with. The guy is so pathetic that it's unreal. It's excusable to some extent given the circumstances, but holy fuck man up dude. Another problem is that the quality of the drama varies greatly depending on the route. Struggling between Haruka and Mitsuki? Sure that's some good stuff. The loli nurse route? Everything about it is fucking retarded. It's a really long game with a ton of padding. Some of the bad ends you can get go on for a way longer time than you'd expect too. Also as another aside, Mitsuki has the most H scenes but paradoxically I think her VA is really bad at voicing sex scenes. No idea if this is a wild hipster opinion of mine because she's great at everything, but her sex moans are shit. I mean just compare her performance to Haruka's (Kuribayashi) and it's a night and day difference.

Of course, I realized I mostly just complained, but I did genuinely like it overall. Kiminozo is also a pretty good way to get into the Age universe if you haven't touched any of their other stuff. You just absolutely have to have a desire for drama though. And also be prepared for a very bumpy ride since like I said earlier, the routes vary a lot in quality. Although you could always just skip/not read the others. The main girls, Haruka, Mitsuki, and Akane are unsurprisingly the best. The premise of Akane's route is really funny (btw I'm fucking your sister) and peak soap opera, but hey that's what you're here for. I also enjoyed Daikuuji's route. And well THAT route was a wild ride to say the least.

Does EGS have advantages compared to VNDB? I really like how detailed/autistic/database-ic VNDB is, it's like it has everything you need to know and it's neatly organized.
As far as I'm aware the only thing EGS has that VNDB doesn't is an "okazu" rating, but it's not too important for me since I don't waste my time frying my brain with nukislop, and I always fap to H-scenes in normal eroge out of respect and also to deepen my immersion and emotional connection with the heroine.

Aikagi was another game I played that was structurally fairly similar, but I particularly liked this game's girl for being a bit taciturn at start, plus the whole age gap and forbidden romance theme was spot on.

What I liked
-single heroine, no common route, don't have to met her 15 classmates (very early branching common route is also OK)
-support characters have little screen time and mainly exist just to give her some background
-entirely focuses on the relationship between the girl and the protagonist, no hours upon hours of school club and bunkasai scenes
-living together from the start (gives an excuse to skip all the school scenes)

I'd also prefer a game with a bit more afterstory than this, like finally becoming a couple and being in a relationship shouldn't be at the 80% point of the game but at the 40-50% ideally.

I remembered the Augustus fight being a pain in the ass and that ended up being accurate. Actually had to retry a few times. I don't know who designed this nonsense, but he punishes you like 3x more than any other boss in this game and you can't just cheese him like everyone else. The only other thing to watch out for is the final boss's one hit kill move but that was easy to dodge. Muramasa is one of those games that's definitely good, but I don't remember much at all after playing it. You need the right computer, right OS, right programs, and then VNs still shit the bed and give cryptic errors.

Since I finished nikuniku2 I wanted to play something else where you can capture monster girls. You can't torture and kill and eat them in this game... but I guess just trapping and raping can probably be kinda fun too...

Theres a map that you have to walk around in and lay traps and put bait down on 3x3 squares where each square is a type of terrain that corresponds to a type of trap that can be used (snare can't be used on grassland, pitfall cant be used in forest, bear trap can be used anywhere, cant use any of these on rocky areas, and so on... there seems to be dynamite and some other stuff but I haven't bought any yet. In the 3x3 there will be an animal footprints on one of them and thats how you know if you should put a trap and bait there. Theres also wind so you have to think about where to put the trap and bait so that the smell of the bait is downwind to attract the animal. The traps and baits and all have different success rates depending on terrain and animal, respectively. The animals can escape if you don't come back to check on the trap in time.
This is kinda what I was hoping from nikuniku2 at first... Theres a lot I could say about nikuniku2 I wonder if I should have blogged.

Anyway, then theres a time component where each move on the map is 5 minutes and it takes 15 minutes to lay a trap and varying amounts of time to explore and check spaces for items and whatnot. You can buy traps at a store, but you have to find bait in the wild. You have from 8:00 AM to 6:00PM to explore each day.

There are three duos to play as, a crazy rapist with his funny puppet brother, a young guy who is the son of the explorer who went missing on the island and his meido, and a professor and his secretary. All hired by Great Britan zoo to procure animals for the 1850 world expo.

The text in the prologue is messed up though so I couldn't actually read the part about the zoo and expo in game but that's the premise. It's like 10 lines of exposition anyway. The dialogue text in the text boxes is fucked up too, BUT if you set the speed to slowest, and click to advance the text without waiting for it to come up on it's own, it appears normally and not corrupted. I don't know how this works.

It's been a while since I played something without voices. It's quite lame.
But the game is primarily a comedy and the lines are funny and the setting is fun. The puppet in particular has some pretty wild lines, good shit. I didn't play the other two pairs yet though. But I doubt they can beat Fuckchan.

You can also attack other teams on the island though I haven't encountered any yet. And if you have enough money you can buy a ticket that allows you to fuck your assistant. I dunno if the guy with the puppet scene will just be him mastubating or what

Does Natsuyume Nagisa have better romance and more focus on romance than Hatsuyuki Sakura? Dropped the latter right before the true route because the romance and thus the heroines were shit. So I'm rather cautious since people say both titles are somewhat connected/similar. Don't want to waste time on another Saga Planets title that disappoints me in the end.
