The Mahoyo collab succeeded in two things: firstly, being a huge waste of time since it's a poorly written joke event. Secondly, it made me lose all interest in the Mahoyo sequels since it's practically guaranteed that it will involve some kind of garbage love triangle straight out of a korean drama. Good job Nasu. At the end, there wasn't any true culprit, just a series of bad luck. Alice making Shining Star, Alice failing to dismantle it, Ushigami hijacking Shining Star so it can grant wishes forever (his nature), Ushigami future seeing ability (the one who sees the future dies, so mixed with shining star, the ones who gets wish granted dies), Aoko sending Shining Star to the future all coalesced into the stupid mystery.
I was so suspicious of Tsukiji being Aoko's secret agent to help the team in the background because he was so adaptable of the magic world rules despite being a muggle and also suspiciously acting alone that I geniunely felt surprised that he was just calling his wife telling her that he is fine and is going to come back as soon as the case ends.
Basically, The wish granting device that Alice made, Shining Star, got hijacked in 1997 by Ushigami (wanwan) after he possesed Kinomi for a bit.
Shining Star powered itself by granting wishes and leveled his rarity until he got to SSR in 1999.
Alice with Shizuki went to stop it way too late. Current Aoko suspects that Shizuki died protecting Alice.
Aoko fought next, but since she realized that she can't beat it, it yeeted it to 2 years into the future, making a singularity and wiping everyone's memories so it fits any time paradox.
Now in 2001, Shining Star only managed to grant 2 wishes (one of them because Aoko was a retard). They are about to fix the Singularity, but they realized that if they fix it now, Shizuki's dead will be fixed in the timeline so they decide to break the anchor that Aoko made to move the singularity to 2021, returning to 2019 to kill Shining Star before it kills Shizuki. The SSR Shining Star and UC Shining Star will be fused, weakening it a lot.

Note WanWan is a god and became a living Holy Grail thanks to be named that way by Kinomi. So that's why the Star acted like one and granted wishes.

The juxtaposition between the cat in the opening scene of Mahoyo and the way she admonishes Shiki for cutting down the tree in the opening scene of Tsukihime is too strong to just be coincidence, her view on life and death is too radically different. I think that opening scene of Tsukihime is meant to be as much a "period" on the end of Aoko's character arc as it is an introduction to Shiki. Maybe Nasu will keep them separate like you said but I think that scene was clearly written with Mahoyo and whatever happened to Aoko in mind.

It really wasn't, no. The whole thing was a massive slop with lots of characters I don't really care about, unlike Mahoyo. To start with, what I assume to be F/GO's main characters (Mash and Fujimaru) are pretty much irrelevant/walking camera during the whole event (even in the climax) apart from throwing tsukkomi and retarded F/GO lore from time to time. Most of the guest characters were also borderline non-existent, present only for clap shit and obvious fan service (Ryougi, totally not Shirou, totally not Rin, etc.). Apart from the cast of Mahoyo, the only character who caught my attention at all was perhaps Sugitani, since "she" had a little more time to interact with the cast. The real highlight for me was clearly Tobimaru, and Kinomi. Kinomi is the only character in the original game I thought was kinda underwhelming since he never had any scenes where he wasn't just a clown but he gets decent contents here. Still there's a limit to what you can do in an F/GO event, I suppose. Regardless it was a given since it's clearly a joke event, but the “plot” of the collaboration was extremely messy and nonsensical, like it give me some impression that there was something more to it than gagshit, but of course not. Truly, I don't know how anyone can read this and think it's good or a faithful representation of what Mahoyo has to offer, the whole thing was comically bad on almost every level. HF is meant to sum what's Fate about: saying goodbye to your Servant, destroy the Grail, Grail Wars were a mistake (see: Fate/Zero). Save Sakura. HF ending and message is about letting go and moving forward.

Shirou finally letting go of all that hero complex baggage and growing up to come back to the real world with his wife; the woman who came from outside his cycle of depression to support him (Sakura) and I think it's a pretty obvious maturity filter for the people who dislike the route.

Sakura and Shirou finally growing up and finding happiness and family in each other is kino. Both overpowered their damage.

People often dismiss HF, but I think the progression is a natural consequence of both Shirou growing as a person and Nasu getting older. You should eventually get over your edgy teenager phase.
