Why do people say PCB is the easiest touhou when it isnt?

MoF and IN are easier, and this cannot even be really questioned. IN is IN, and MoF has hax bombs and no wall-boss. How can people honestly say MoF is harder than PCB when MoF has no SakuyaYoumuReiMarOrinShou? Even excluding that, the bombs are powerful as motherfuck.

If we even go PC98, SoEW is easier than PCB too.

Explain to me, please, what the deal is with people saying PCB is easy.

>> No.4663903

There are people who say PCB is easier than IN? It definitely isn't. I thought PCB was about the same as MoF and easier than SA.

IN followed by MF.

MF is actually easier than IN but it has a harder final boss.

SA >= StB > DS > UFO > EoSD > PCB > IN >= MoF > PoFV

This list is a comparison that takes into consideration the mean difficulty of easy and lunatic mode.

And there you have it. /thread

>> No.4666042

It depends on what you are good at really.

The trick as I see it, is to get lives. Each game treats these differently. SA for example rewards you for beating cards, but won't help you at all if you keep dying to them. PCB wants you to collect points, which can be done even at the safe bottom. MoF wants you to not only collect score high up, it wants you to keep the picking ups going so that your bonus doesn't shrink.

tl;dr the games difficulty depends on how you play.

PCB is not easy damnit! I got killed in the face by Yuyuko in my first try on hard mode.

If you've played it yourself then I don't see how you can't understand it. First three bosses are incredibly easy, Aya's stage is a little difficult but her boss fight isn't anything you can't handle, Sanae is about average difficulty and definitely the weakest stage 5 boss in the series, and then you face Kanako and you're like HOLY FUCK DIFFICULTY SPIKE WHAT

But since the rest of the game is easy you have lots of lives fall back on.

>> No.4666187

>you have lots of lives fall back on.

Except you don't. PCB showers you with lives. In MoF you have what, 9 lives total? PCB gives you like 12.

Further, Yuyuko is a joke, Prismrivers are a joke and Youmu has the most garbage patterns after Reisen. Which means the part of the game that matters is easy. MoF only seems easy because you can bomb everything, but it still keeps you on a tight leash with so few lives.

Easiest final boss in Touhou is Eirin.

Though she's also the bossiest, with the background changing on every attack.

EoSD is easier on easy than IN.

PCB is easier. MoF is life management and "oh shit I ran out of bombs".

>>4666213
Until Virtue, where you'll need 1-2 spare lives or so. And another life for bombing the rest of her, which brings the total to 2-3 lives you must spare. You're only given 9 lives.

PCB however hands lives like candy and the only hard parts of Yuyuko are the knife noncard, Demon World, Swallowtail, PCB and Resurrection Butterfly, which is the only final card that can be bombed (sort of. ) All but PCB/RB can be handled with a single bomb, and I'm not even mentioning all the borders you get.

cherry borders, you use them?

I still remember when I first got into Touhou. After getting my ass handed to me in EoSD, StB, and PCB I decided to try my luck with IN and MoF. IN was so easy that I thought it was created for casuals (despite being a casual fan myself at the time). I lost interest after the 4th stage and went on to MoF. Despite being a beginner I managed to get to the 4th stage without breaking a sweat. The difficulty jumped at stage 4 but I managed to beat it by spamming bombs. Sanae was much easier and the final boss made me ragequit. I can say without a doubt that PCB is much harder than IN and MoF (at least on easy and normal mode).

>EoSD is easier on easy than IN.

People tend to forget EoSD even has an easy mode because it doesn't allow you to play the last level.

My ten year old brother beat EoSD easy on his first try.

>> No.4666302

I think IN is easier than PCB in general, but PCB was the first game I beat normal mode on (using Sakuya). The cherry borders are an amazing advantage, if you're a bad player each one is practically an extra life.

On what difficulty? On normal mode I could clear the first 3 stages of MoF with my feet if I wanted to. Even IN has harder stages. I assume by "life management" you mean the final boss or Aya. I'd venture to say the only thing hard about MoF was the final boss. Kanako is pretty decent as far as bosses go. (Even Byakuren and Remilia took me less tries to complete.) Luckily for me MoF's levels are so easy that I manage to save up enough lives in order to defeat Kanako.

That's what's so disappointing about MoF. It feels like the game lets you win out of pity. Kanako is too good to beat normally, but you can outlast her with the zillion extra lives you gathered from the easy-peasy early levels.

Play on the higher difficulties, OP. PCB has a relatively brutal easy modo, and normal is kinda hard too, but hard and lunatic are a fuckin joke compared to the other Touhous on the same difficulty. MoF does the reverse, since Kanako's last card is totally neutered on anything below Hard. On the higher difficulties, it becomes one of the most retarded cards in the series, and your bombs getting nerfed doesn't help, either. You basically don't expect to 1cc MoF unless you can beat the rest of the game with 2 lives surplus.

>> No.4668723

Easiest games are for pussies.
(Cleared stages 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6 in StB)

>> No.4668781

The real reason people think IN is so easy is because of so many extra lives you can get to choose and the convient continues.

In IN, you can start with like what, 10 lives and 8 bombs? And with continues it's multiplied that much more, so people think it's easy.

Play IN on Lunatic starting with three lives and two bombs. and NO continues. Try that before saying it's easy. In fact, it's arguably one of the hardest.

>> No.4668830

IN is the only lunatic I've gotten to the last boss in. It's definitely not one of the hardest; there's nothing really remarkable about it.

>> No.4668831

>In fact, it's arguably one of the hardest.
The real reason IN is easy is because Border Team is rigged as hell. That and Reisen is the easiest stage 5 boss in the series. Even Sanae is harder.
